    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a part-time pediatric health psychologist to work with medically complex children, adolescents, and their families as part of our collaborative craniofacial team here at NYU. We are seeking a psychologist with strong interest and expertise in parent/caregiver support who will consult with patients to determine specific clinical needs and make referrals to other psychology specialties as needed. We are looking for a candidate who can provide short term, targeted, evidence-based interventions with brief psychological evaluations.

    Population needs and desired areas of interest and expertise include the following:

    The psychologist will:

    • Provide psychological evaluations, interventions, and short term, targeted therapy to patients and families with referrals to other psychology specialties as needed, including referrals for long term therapeutic support.
    • Assess and provide interventions for patients with complex medical conditions, adjustment to diagnosis, preparation for surgery, anxiety and depression, pain, behavioral non-adherence, and other mental health needs
    • Assess behavioral concerns, develop behavior management plans, provide parent training and encourage parent engagement
    • Provide emotional support and empowerment to patients and families
    • Facilitate referrals for appropriate services in the patient’s community
    • Participate and contribute to team meetings and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited institution
    • Completion of APA or CPA accredited pre-doctoral internship
    • Minimum of one-year postdoctoral fellowship experience in a hospital or related medical setting.
    • Licensed or license eligible in the State of New York.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    5+ years prior clinical experience in pediatric psychology setting.

    *All candidates must meet NYU criteria for psychology core privileges. Documentation of additional specialty education/training is required for non-core clinical privileges (e.g., biofeedback, neuropsychological testing).

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $29.67 - $43.60 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
