    Position Summary:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.

    There is an open Research Associate position in the electrophysiology core facility ("IonLab") at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM) to serve its growing customer base. IonLab serves the electrophysiology and ionic signaling needs of investigators at NYUGSOM, other academic institutions, and industry partners.

    The Research Associate will closely interact with the Operations Manager of IonLab, the director of the "Ion Channels and Transporters in Immunity (ICTI)" program and other members of the management team. The successful candidate will be appointed at the level of Research Associate in the Department of Pathology.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Design and perform experiments, maintain equipment and laboratory supplies, have consultations and training of IonLab clients and other requirements to run the day-to-day operations of the core facility including maintaining cell cultures
    * Be principally responsible for the execution of or assisting on experiments using a variety of in vitro approaches including, but not limited to, fluorescence imaging-based assays and automated patch-clamp recordings
    * Demonstrate a strong interest to learn new techniques or present experience in several techniques. These include, but are not limited to: manual patch-clamp recordings of cell cultures and in vitro tissue slices, plasmid preparations and transfection of cell cultures to express channels
    * Assist the IonLab Operations Manager in project design, data analysis and data interpretation
    * Maintain and upgrade equipment and assist in testing new equipment
    * Perform other duties as assigned
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in independently conducting experiments
    Highly motivated, responsible and very well organized with excellent attention to detail
    Effective oral and written communication skills in English
    Willingness and ability to learn new techniques and experiments of the IonLab core facility.
    Hands-on experience with electrophysiology assays, including manual or automated patch clamping
    Fluorescence imaging assay and microscopy experience
    Cell culturing experience
    Rodent colony maintenance and rodent handling experience

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,900.00 - $55,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
