    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiovascular Technologist I. In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:Carries out patient care responsibilities within the invasive cardiology suites; provides competent, safe and compassionate care based on established NYUHC Patient Care and Nursing Standards. As a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team participates in the provision of care under the supervision of the provider (physician or nurse practitioner) and registered nurses; Participates in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; provides competent, safe, and compassionate care with emphasis on an understanding of the challenges faced by hospitalization, undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests; provides support to the unit in the maintenance and safety of supplies, equipment and the environment; demonstrates NYULMC Core Values in all aspects of job performance.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collects patient healthcare data systematically and on an ongoing basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments.
    • Participates in the unit based quality and performance improvement program consistent with the clinical service and departmental program.
    • Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities.
    • Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, the Departments of Nursing and NYU Langone Medical Center strategic area.
    • Obtain hemodynamic and radiologic data. Enter patient information and records procedural events in the electronic medical record. Analyzes technical data to report physiologic findings.
    • Maintains awareness of current evidence-based practice and uses research applicable to patient care.
    • Engages in self- assessment and participates in activities to promote own professional growth and development.
    • Participates in coordination of unit activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane and caring environment.
    • Operates and maintains diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for invasive cardiology procedures.
    • Participates in clinical inquiry and activities to foster evidence-bases practice.
    • Serves as a support and resource for other staff and students.
    • Collaborates with the members of the interdisciplinary team and promotes collegial relationships.
    • Participate in a plan of care that prescribes intervention to attain expected outcomes.
    • Participates in quality improvement programs and activities that promote patient, family, physician and staff satisfaction.
    • Utilizes resources to meet individual learning need and promote professional development in clinical practice.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the NYULMC Core Values and incorporates these into the performance of responsibilities.
    • Implements interventions identified in the plan of care.
    • Demonstrates ability to differentiate those activities which are CV-technologist practice and those that may be delegated to other staff.
    • Assists the interdisciplinary health care team during invasive cardiology procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes.
    • Functions as a respectful member of the health care team.
    • Considers needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care activities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Education: Associate Degree in Cardio Vascular Technology or high school diploma with a minimum of five years relevant and recent acute invasive cardiology cardiovascular technologist experience.Fluent written and spoken English language skills;Physical stamina, manual, dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Qualifications:Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred; Certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) preferred.
