    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Social Worker Supervisor. In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for assisting in planning, organizing and managing delegated aspects of the departments functions. Supervises and maintains social work programs for designated sites, clinical service lines and/or departments, patient care units, grant funded special services, or combination thereof. Interfaces with other hospital staff to ensure coordination, communication, and monitoring for the social work staff assigned to service lines, departments, and programs. This is a managerial position that includes direct supervision of professional and non-professional staff.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manages and supervises both 1199 and non-union staff. Interviews candidates for employment consideration and makes recommendations concerning hiring and termination; coordinates orientation of new workers to department and assigned areas. Organizes, monitors and ensures that there is adequate staff coverage for all assignments. Interviews candidates for positions throughout the department in collaboration with supervisors as needed.
    • Assists the associate directors in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures. Maintains the policy and procedure manual for the department. Provides information, education and preparation of staff for regulatory visits such as CARF and JCAHO.
    • Provides leadership for the department in the absence of the associate directors. Covers for the associate directors during vacations and other absences, attending meetings, providing hospital administration within formation as requested.
    • Maintains own clinical competencies and may directly assist social work supervisors and/or other staff in psychosocial care and continuing care planning for complex cases as needed.
    • Partners with Care Management administration to ensure coordinated efforts in the management of safe and timely discharge planning.
    • Coordinates staff development needs, discharge planning services, data collection and research, group work and other developmental activities.
    • Participates in teaching psychosocial issues related to health and illness, community resources, and social work services.
    • Assists the associate directors in planning, organizing and managing delegated aspects of the departments functions. Organizes monitors and ensures that there is adequate staff coverage for all assignments. Interviews candidates and makes recommendations concerning hiring and termination; orients new workers to department and assigned areas. Evaluates and prepares performance appraisals of staff performance and counsels staff for performance improvement and/or development; when necessary disciplines staff in accordance with NYUHC personnel policies and procedures. Provides effective guidance to staff and provides on-the-job training, skill development for clinical practice and case consultation according to staff needs. Review documentation and treatment plans rendered in assigned areas. Plans, develops and implements new programs/projects and initiatives to improve patient care.
    • Establishes criteria and case finding mechanisms for ensuring that all patients requiring social work services are identified and treated within timeline established by the department policies and procedures Plans, develops and implements new programs/projects and initiatives to improve patient care.
    • Ensures service to individuals, families and groups through productive use of social work staff time, skills, and appropriate level of competence. Monitors productivity and quality.
    • Institutes corrective actions in consultation with Human Resources/Labor Relations as needed. Covers for the director during vacations and other absences, attending meetings, providing hospital administration with information as requested.
    • Acts as departmental representative at selected meetings and committees of the Rusk Institute and elsewhere in the hospital as delegated by the director. Coordinates and supervises the outpatient social work Rusk Institute program. Organizes, develops and monitors the quality assessment and improvement program for the department.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Masters Degree in social work, or its equivalent, (e.g., a higher degree from a social work program that is registered by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for licensure), from a recognized college or university program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). New York State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a New York State Education Department-issued limited permit. Minimum of six years progressive clinical experience in Social Work which includes at least two years in administrative, supervisory or social work teaching position in a hospital setting.. REQUIRED LICENSES: Licensed Social Worker - NYS

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership qualities.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,770.80 - $115,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
