    Position Summary:

    The Senior Research Scientist will assist in the development and maintenance of analytic datasets incorporating data from multiple sources including prospective cohort study data, clinical trials, and qualitative data, to develop and implement study designs while maintaining data quality assurance procedures to ensure validity and reliability of study results. The Senior Research Scientist is critical to execute our nationally federally funded and non-sponsored qualitative research. A Senior Research Scientist that specializes in organ transplantation and social behavioral science, chronic disease will work mostly with primary data collected through large multi-site studies and clinical trials in support of NIH and DoD funded research. The Senior Research Scientist will work closely with other research team members to support the conduct of the research and train, manage, and oversee work of the Senior Research Scientist and other trainees. The Senior Research Scientist will help manage, prepare, analyze, and interpret data as well as report on analysis results to Center directors. This individual will support the PIs and Center directors in the dissemination and presentation of research at national transplant meetings.

    Responsible for collaborating with Principal Investigators (PI) and working independently within the scientific framework of the PI's laboratory.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Initiates, interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates research assignments critical to departments mission.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Work with analytic team to perform data analyses
    • Design optimized policies and design and conduct computational trials
    • May serve on internal committees to help further goals of research projects and bring new expertise to the research program.
    • May coordinate the activity and experimental design between various labs, scientific staff, and collaborators.
    • Identifies and resolves technical problems.
    • May provide recommendations for equipment purchases and for the redesign of lab space.
    • May make significant contributions to scientific papers. Is a resource/ author/ co-author for reports and
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the advances in specialized fields through attendance of scientific
    • May determine and establish laboratory policies, procedures and practices.
    • Develops research techniques and methodologies.
    • May develop protocol for the collection and quality of research data.
    • May be responsible research/lab quality control and compliance.
    • May seek grant funding from external sources in support of their independent research projects with consent of the PI and the Department Chair. May participate in writing grant proposals.
    • May provide students with technical guidance and direction in the operation of various sample preparation techniques, extraction lines, and equipment as well as general laboratory practices and safety protocols.
    • Ensures timely and accurate completion of research projects.
    • May manage the operations of a lab for the Principal Investigator by supervising Post Docs and technicians.
    • Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all instruments and laboratory facilities.
    • Develops new ideas that promote current research. Exercises a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance.
    • Makes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activities.
    • Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies or series of projects of lesser scope.
    • Formulates and conducts research on problems of considerable scope and complexity.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    PhD and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training.
    Established a record of publications.
    Superior computational analysis skills.
    Ability to critically analyze and present research studies to scientific audiences, including transplant professionals.
    Highly specialized advanced knowledge, education and/or training in surgical or transplant research.
    Experience writing and publishing scientific manuscripts

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $115,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
