    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director - Budget.

    In this role, the successful candidate as the Assistant Director - Budget will report to the Sr. Director, Planning Budget and Strategy and will liaison with General Accounting, School of Medicine Department Administrators, Corporate Services, SOM Missions and Senior Medical Center Leadership to ensure that the approved budget is in line with meeting the Institutions goals, objectives and standards. In addition, the Assistant Director will have responsibilities for overseeing the budget team and managing special projects and ad hoc requests in the areas of Financial and Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Financial Analysis and Reporting. Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Director, but are not limited to: (1) developing, monitoring and providing oversight of the SOM annual operating revenue and expense budget, (2) University (WSQ) deliverables, (3) providing monthly financial analytics, (5) personnel management and position control, (6) developing policies and procedures and adherence to, (7) ensuring optimal customer relations, (8) facilitating benchmarking, assist in developing KPIs for corporate and SOM missions and assist in identifying performance improvement opportunities and initiatives, (8) key contributor for the NYULH Long Range Financial Planning and Development, (9) co-lead in developing the NYULH rolling forecast and the cash projection. The Assistant Director will play a critical role in providing ad hoc analytics to support senior leaderships strategic decision-making process at NYULH.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Responsible for supervision of Financial Analysts with authority to hire, evaluate,discipline and terminate. Delegates assignments efficiently including definingoutcomes, time parameters to staff and monitor their progress through completion.

    Provide analysts oversightduring the annual budgeting process including responsibility for initializingthe setup in Hyperion (operating budget tool) for all end users during theannual operating budget process.

    Oversee and review processingof budget modifications for operating budgets, ensuring compliance withexisting policy and maintaining clear audit trails of all changes.

    Manages annual budgetingprocess working with multiple stakeholders in central Finance, Corporate, SOMAcademic departments and Missions and provides a consolidated budget analysiswith new initiatives modeled for financial impact.

    Responsible for maintainingcontrols on all budget uploads to the General Ledger system. Ensures any budgetmodifications during the fiscal year are in line with the directive from seniorleadership including ensuring there is appropriate justification for the same.

    Provide oversight duringthe month-end close process. Supervises analysts to ensure timely completion ofmonthly analytics to explain key drivers of the SOM and Corporate monthlyperformance.

    Responsible for actively overseeingthe preparation of all schedules and supporting documentation for the annualoperating budget including preparation of all necessary reports and schedulesfor budget review, meetings and presentations to all levels of seniorleadership.

    Key contributor inassisting and overseeing the development of the NYULH Long Range Financial Planand preparation of the cash flow. Helps drive the development of targets for amacro budget consistent with the strategic goals of the Medical Center.

    Assists with thecompilation of routine and ad hoc reports as requested by senior leadership.

    Advises Sr. Director onoverall SOM performance to budget; alerts management of any specialcircumstances or concerns.

    Oversees the detailed,multi-year earnings improvement initiatives under the direct and indirectcontrol of the SOM missions, including measurable initiatives across all Profit& Loss (P&L) categories.

    Key participant in developinga multi-year clinical growth model based on utilization assumptions andconstraints, recruitment plans and strategic initiatives.

    Define requirements and partner withkey stakeholders to develop a forecasting model for NYULH that is relevant foranalysis and decision-making based on the following: regular updates, metricsand key driver-based, linked to strategic and operational decisions, directownership involvement.

    Drive effective quarterly financialforecasting and reporting process for NYULH; provide ongoing updates to SeniorLeadership and Washington Square.

    Understand variance analysis of keymetrics and early identification of risks and opportunities.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Minimum of a B.A., ideally with an MBA/MPA or related degree.
    At least 5-6 years of overall professional experience; ideally 5+ years of broad financial and operations management experience.
    Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of budgeting, accounting, and reporting software.
    Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities.
    A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
    Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
    A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
    Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of NYULH.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office including excel; knowledge of Alteryx or other AI tools strongly preferred.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a vital part of this role in order to navigate the landscape of having multiple stakeholders at various levels of the institution expecting high quality and timely service. Must demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency and prioritize accordingly.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $138,098.48 - $156,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
