Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) Ghana is one partnership within AMPATH Global, a network of universities and academic health centers that collaborate with public sector health systems to ensure essential and equitable health for all people. AMPATH originated with AMPATH Kenya over 30 years ago as a partnership between medical schools at Indiana University in the U.S. and Moi University in Kenya. The AMPATH Consortium has developed and inspired future leaders in healthcare in both North America and Africa, and produced hundreds of published articles¿all while successfully responding to healthcare needs in homes, communities, and clinical facilities in western Kenya. NYU Grossman School of Medicine¿s Section for Global Health leads the AMPATH Consortium of academic health centers in the AMPATH Ghana partnership with the University for Development Studies School of Medicine (UDS-SoM), Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), and other affiliated institutions in Ghana. AMPATH Ghana leverages the experience of AMPATH Kenya, builds on the strengths of Ghana's existing healthcare system, and serves as a resource to Ghana¿s health and education leaders. This partnership works towards mutually beneficial outcomes for all partners¿improving the health and well-being of people in communities in and around Tamale, Ghana; educating tomorrow¿s medical experts worldwide; and jointly researching breakthroughs that will inform improvements in population health around the world. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Coordinator. AMPATH Ghana seeks a project coordinator who will work with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to initiate, run and complete education and training activities, including the new TEACH grant, a project to establish the Tamale Education and InnovAtion Center for Health Professionals. The successful candidate will promote, coordinate and support the development of education-related projects (gathering, collecting and analysis of data). Facilitates administration processes such as maintaining records, assisting in monitoring and developing budgets, organizing and coordinating training programs, and other related activities. Ensures the accurate execution of education-related research protocols in accordance with good clinical practices, HIPAA requirements, and protection of human subjects. Keeps the team moving forward, anticipates potential barriers to success of the project and suggests and implements solutions to barriers. Reports to AMPATH Ghana Executive Director and Education Co-Lead.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Coordination - Oversee, along with Ghanaian counterparts, the implementation of the TEACH grant, a project to establish the Tamale Education and InnovAtion Center for Health Professionals. Coordinate operational aspects for all related education activities as assigned. Arrange communications with internal and external parties to organize and coordinate various components needed to initiate, run and conclude project activities. Produce, circulate and finalize agendas and minutes from calls and meetings. Prepare, process, and track project-related purchases/requisitions, reimbursements, expense reports, and related invoice payments.
Reports - Independently prepare and review documents and generate status/progress reports for ongoing and pending projects, which may include moderate analysis of findings. Outline agenda, plan and prepare presentations, and compose a variety of memos and letters. Review and edit reports, obtain appropriate approvals. Respond to routine correspondences. Follow protocols as defined by AMPATH Ghana and NYU Langone policies and procedures. Research Activities - Gather and collect data generated from education-related research activities and presents findings as applicable. Research problems, issues and concerns, and respond to requests for information. Assist in developing materials and presentations for training and educational sessions, and other activities.
Grants - Contribute to preparation of education-related grant application submissions for AMPATH Ghana, as needed. Assist with education-related research protocol development as requested.
Scheduling - Organize and coordinate schedules, activities and special events. Coordinate conference preparation activities (checking and coordinating the logistics and technical support, making food and beverage arrangements, etc) and other related activities. Coordinate logistics for bilateral trainee and faculty exchanges (NYU to Ghana, Ghana to NYU). May assist in special events planning. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as requested by Executive Director or Education Co-Lead of AMPATH Ghana.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to Project/Program manage and to multi task while paying attention to details.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project/Program management experience preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $63,500.30 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
