    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Child Life Patient Media Coordinator.

    The Child Life Patient Media Coordinator manages technology resources and patient activities including broadcast programming in Skyline Studio. The child life patient media coordinator directs the strategic development and operations of patient media for therapeutic and entertainment purposes throughout children’s services. This will include oversight and logistics of current state and expansion of the closed-circuit television programming technologies, tablets, gaming and other similar technology-based units. Will work with internal and external resources on the development of quality multimedia programming with a recreational, educational and therapeutic purpose. Coordinator will also work closely with colleagues from across the Medical Centers digital wall team to fully develop the entertainment component of programming for pediatric patients.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Oversees the incorporation and utilization of technology and media resources for the benefit of patients, families, TR/CL/CAT Dept, and other stakeholders.
        • Coordinates all Skyline Studio and Skyline TV operations in collaboration with department leadership, staff members, MCIT partners and patients/families.
        • Works with children and families on content development and production. Ability to adapt programs, equipment, and materials to suit the individual needs of children with a variety of conditions or abilities.
        • Selects and maintains media that will support normalization, coping and creativity. Works directly with patients and families in participation and engagement of one to one therapeutic projects and small group sessions.
        • Solicits input from staff, patients and families concerning media interests, needs, and learning styles for content development and production. Oversees multi-media technology standards and innovation for Skyline Studio.
        • Builds strong internal and community relationships to support media and technology initiatives. Ability to be flexible and demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients and families.
        • Liaises with Department of Communications, MCIT, the Digital Wall Team, Patient Experience, and others as appropriate.
        • Serves as content expert for video story-telling and communication, including creative concept development, filming and editing video, and production.
        • Provides guidance/support/training related to media and technology for staff, interns, students and volunteers.
        • Informs staff of available technology/media and provides assistance to ensure technology is utilized to the fullest extent possible through meaningful integration.
        • Incorporates cultural diversity/gender fair criteria, etc. in the selection and recommendation of materials.
        • Demonstrates proficiency in broadcast and production practices, equipment and software, and trains others in proper use of equipment and software, and other multi-media tools.
        • Eliminates out-dated, inappropriate and unsuitable materials. Maintains an accurate and current inventory of media materials and equipment, trouble-shoots technical issues and informs the department of needs for new supplies or equipment.
        • Attends appropriate staff and department meetings. Serves as content expert on committees to develop and integrate multi-media programming.
        • Oversees relationships with external organizations, determining suitability for collaboration and scheduling of performances
        • Oversees all Skyline Studio programmatic decisions including the management of online content scheduling software
        • Creates materials that complement or promote Skyline Studio programs
        • Collaborates with staff within and outside of department on creation of Skyline content
        • Provides management, support and staff training for inpatient gaming systems
        • Creates materials to thank donors and showcase work of Skyline Studio.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree in digital media production, broadcasting, communications, journalism or closely related field with a minimum of two years of multimedia and broadcast experience. Knowledge, and ability to effectively work with technology and direct integration into the hospital environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact and engage pediatric patients, family members, staff, and community partners.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in radio and television broadcasting equipment and software including computer equipment, video/mixer and switchers, audio recording equipment/mixer, video cameras, lights, tripods, etc., non-linear editing and basic graphic creation. Proficiency with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and the Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with web content management systems, HTML templates, and Photoshop, MS Office proficiency including Word, Excel, Outlook. Ability to collaborate with members of a fast-paced team and work independently with minimal direction. Basic knowledge of infant, child and adolescent growth and development; strong comfort level working with children and teens. Innovative thinker with track record in content creation and project development from idea to implementation. Attention to detail and ability to execute with accuracy.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $61,479.60 - $100,700.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
