    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pharmacy Informatics Specialist. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, licensing requirements and professional standards pertaining to storage inventory control, dispensing and distribution of medication, medication consultation and vaccination of approved medications as permitted by the New York State Board of Pharmacy. 

    Collaborate with managers and staff to assist in the development and maintenance of electronic medical record system functionalities according to practice standards (NCCN, IRB approved protocols, ASCO, etc.).  Assist in preparing and maintaining new investigational study reference sheets/clinical summaries.  Help coordinate the on-boarding process and training (tip-sheets, presentations) of new pharmacists and pharmacy technicians’ at all ambulatory sites on general computer applications used in dispensing workflows. Reinforce or modify workflows (both inter- and intra-departmentally) as needed, to maintain the highest standard of patient care.  

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Core Values and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
        • Responsible for medication dispensation according to NYULMC policies and NYS Pharmacy Laws.
        • Maintains pharmacy records according to NYULMC policies and NYS Pharmacy Laws.
        • Provides Drug information and consultation to patients and health care providers according to NYULMC policies and NYS Pharmacy Laws.
        • Maintains a current understanding and understands application of onsite pharmacy technology.
        • Provides vaccinations to patients according to NYULMC policies and NYS Pharmacy Laws.
        • Provide direct oversight of pharmacy Technician maintaining NYULMC standards of quality.
        • Assists management with Waste Fraud and Abuse according to NYULMC policies and Federal Law.
        • Participates in monthly inventory though Veriform assignment.
        • Professional development: participates in projects/activities to maintain professional competence (seminars, journals, 15 hours of continuing education credit per year required by NYS)
        • Maintains a professional attitude when answering telephones, addressing patients and providing drug information
        • Document clinical interventions
        • Complete annual competency assessments
        • Provides guidance to pharmacy students when required.
        • Investigational Drug Willow/Beacon support
        • Prepare, maintain and update clinical ERX’s and build documents for research protocols (new studies, amendments, modifications)
        • Liaise with the Investigational Pharmacy staff and CRMS/Research Navigator for acquiring study specific documents and other manuals for accurate build
        • Coordinate communication with Primary Investigators, Research Nurses, Coordinators and staff in attaining ERX and BEACON build plan approvals with EPIC
        • Prepare and update investigational pharmacy reference sheets/clinical summaries used by all Ambulatory Care Pharmacy and Inpatient sites
        • Informatics Operational support
        • Commercial Willow and BEACON Treatment/ Therapy Plans
        • Updating preference lists/medications lists/drug records (lines and concentrations) for accuracy
        • Alaris Builds and quarterly maintenance
        • Maintain pharmacy informatics representation at EPIC IT Workflow meetings, Formulary Standardization Meeting, PCC Clinical Services, Research Nursing Meetings, Staff Meetings
        • Assist in the crosswalk of treatment plans to oncology clinical pathway programs
        • Epic/Beacon Use Support
        • Day-to-day trouble shoot order entry questions or problems (from nursing, physicians, etc.)
        • Training and support to PCC pharmacy staff on IT systems (new pharmacist, new pharmacy technicians, and new NPs)
        • Ambulatory Care Service Support
        • Visit all sites physically on a regular basis to troubleshoot any ongoing EPIC/workflow problems
        • Omnicell interfaces, data support and maintenance
        • Dose-Edge data build and maintenance
        • Performs other miscellaneous related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, New York State Pharmacy License and Oncology Pharmacy Experience. Pharmacy computerized application knowledge, Standard business computer application skills (Microsoft Office) Good communication and interpersonal skills. 

    Clinical Trials Procedure Knowledge and experience with Epic Willow/Beacon systems and applications highly preferred.

    REQUIRED LICENSES: Pharmacist License-NYS
