    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst–Restricted Funds. In this role, the successful candidate as the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for contributing to NYU Langone Healths finance function by executing, analyzing, verifying, and reporting on financial transactions primarily related to restricted funds (gifts, pledges, endowments and other special purpose funds). The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for reviewing gift agreements, determining donor-intent (when applicable), and working with the budget team, development office, and departments to establish an appropriate chartstring. The Senior Financial Analyst will also be responsible for building and automating financial reporting and financial modeling for restricted funds, tracking actual spend to budget, compiling information for donor reporting, reconciling TRAX (Blackbaud) transactions to the PeopleSoft general ledger, and preparing standard and adjusting journal entries. The Senior Financial Analyst will also address Finance Helpdesk tickets to ensure inquiries are resolved within a reasonable time. The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Manager of Restricted Funds and assist with preparing a suite of month-end financial reconciliations and analyses to support a timely month-end financial close. The Senior Financial Analyst will also support the general accounting teams efforts with the annual audits and perform other tasks as assigned. The Senior Financial Analyst is expected to add value by creating high quality senior leadership level presentations, dashboards, and metrics to identify and drive business analysis and decision support. The Senior Financial Analyst will also build and enhance processes and controls across finance and related accounting supporting systems. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial results and consistency with corporate and business unit accounting policies and procedures, and identifying and communicating risks and opportunities.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monitor key interfaces from subsystems (including, but not limited to, TRAX) into the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness and obtain and review reconciliations for each respective subsystem.
    • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of general ledger, financial statement and ancillary report data. Understand the effects of operational, financial and regulatory changes.
    • Understand needs of NYU Langone Health stakeholders and assist with general ledger queries and adjustments. Perform on-going reporting and analytical projects on an ad-hoc basis as requested by management.
    • Conduct financial research, modeling, and analysis to support critical decisions; develop actionable recommendations based on the research, and effectively communicate recommendations to Finance leadership through both oral presentations and written documents. Assist the auditors with related requests.
    • Coordinate with the other General Accounting staff to complete the financial statement and executive leadership group (ELG) packages. Assist with system implementations impacting the general ledger.
    • Assist the manager with the preparation and review of monthly and year-end financial statements, including footnote disclosures and stand-alone financial packages.
    • Perform a monthly analysis of unrestricted and donor restricted contributions for NYU Langone Hospital and NYU Grossman School of Medicine to determine drivers of the variance to budget for the period.
    • Perform restricted fund balance account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
    • Coordinate inter-departmental monthly and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of revenue and expense activity. Prepare standard and adjusting journal entries.
    • Work with departments and the development team to establish gift/pledge chartstrings on a timely basis.
    • Liaise with General Accounting, Development, Washington Square, Budget, and academic departments and administrative units on financial matters.

    ADDITIONAL POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance CPA strongly preferred Minimum of three to five years of accounting experience, demonstrating a track record of increasing responsibilities Not-for-profit, healthcare, and/or public accounting background preferred Sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, as well as an understanding of the healthcare and/or higher-education industry Working knowledge of general ledger systems, journal entries, and financial closing processes is preferred Excellent analytical skills combined with a strong attention to detail and the ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and at least five years of related experience.. REQUIRED LICENSES: Certified Public Accountant

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to achieve goals and meet competing deadlines -Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel -Experience with Alteryx or other AI/RPA technology is preferred -Knowledge of PeopleSoft is preferred -Proficiency in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams -Strong work ethic, with ability to work extended hours as required

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,770.80 - $80,824.10 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
