    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Faculty Group Practice-Director-Nursing (Professional Practice Education). In this role, the successful candidate Under the direction of the Senior Director, Clinical and Nursing Operations, the Director of Nursing Professional Practice & Education - FGP will be responsible for the assessment, design, implementation, oversight and expansion of education and professional development for nursing and clinical ancillary support staff throughout the Faculty Group Practice (FGP). In this role, the Dir-Nursing Prof Practice & Education will serve as the FGP education consultant, using an interdisciplinary approach to promote professional growth, advance clinical practice, and meet identified learning needs. As such, will collaborate with leadership to identify training solutions that support the mission, values, and strategic imperatives of the FGP at NYU Langone Health (NYULH)

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsibilities •    Oversees and instructs clinical and education staff in creation of curriculum, lesson plans, learning aids, and utilization of learning theory; creates on-site trainers •    In conjunction with FGP and NYULH clinical leadership, determines annual competency requirements and methods of evaluation •    Assists in formulation of patient care policies and procedures as needed; communicates and coordinates implementation •    Participates in delivery of educational materials related to new services •    Responsible for long range planning of education programs, aligning with national and state trends in nursing education •    Manages FGP clinical intranet site with policies, procedures, and resources •    Collaborates in the design, implementation, and evaluation of patient/family educational programs to promote patient self-management practices, optimal health outcomes, and excellent patient experience •    Oversees the coordination of student clinical experiences with schools of nursing and health care career programs. Serves as liaison with other external organizations, as directed.

    Standards •    Ensures that educational initiatives align with New York State Education Department professional standards, relevant regulatory and accreditation agency requirements, and NYULH objectives •    Participates with NYULH & FGP Clinical and Administrative leadership teams to support and incorporate professional practice standards, published clinical guidelines and evidence-based research findings into competency, education, and patient care.

    Resource •    Manages assignments and projects in a fiscally responsible manner. Provides input into nursing education budget formulation. Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts budgetary needs to ensure cost containment and appropriate allocation of resources.  •    Provides for appropriate educational staff, facilities, environment and learning tools •    Maintains a comprehensive record keeping system of instructional activities and staff competencies.  Ensures records are confidential, secured, easily retrievable, and meet requirements of applicable regulatory, professional, and accrediting agencies. •    Participates in promoting and publicizing nursing education programs to encourage enrollment and attendance

    QA /QI / research •    Provides leadership for multidisciplinary process improvement activities for departmental and organizational initiatives. Provides oversight and direction to staff in determining meaningful QI measures. •    Assists in the implementation of research projects related to nursing practice, patient care, and nurse sensitive indicators. •    Measures and evaluates performance outcomes and impact of professional development programs. Identifies opportunities for improvement and application of technology. 

    Professionalism •    Demonstrates the ability to adapt by effectively responding to changing needs and priorities •    Accountable for professional competence by maintaining knowledge of current trends in nursing education, nursing practice, and healthcare •    Keeps abreast of latest developments, trends, and advancements in nursing by: (1) Attending seminars/workshops. (2) Reading professional journals. (3) Participating in professional organizations. (4) Utilizing new knowledge and evidenced-based practice •    Participates in intra- and inter-departmental committees •    Fosters a professional practice environment through the encouragement and facilitation of collegial interdisciplinary relationships •    Acts as advisor to nursing and collaborative clinical councils  •    Serves as a mentor and coach to educators, managers and staff and provides opportunities for professional and clinical growth. •    Establishes a working environment that stimulates employees to set and achieve goals and objectives. •    Performs related duties, as required.  

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's in Nursing Education or related Healthcare Degree. Competence: 8 - 10 years recent clinical and educational experience. Experience in Nursing Professional Development, & development of educational programs. Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Strategic thinker. Computer proficiency including skills in research access programs, database programs, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Preferred Qualifications: 6 - 8 years Progressive Nursing Education Leadership experience with demonstrated outcomes strongly preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in ambulatory clinical environment strongly preferred MSN in Nursing Education.

    Required Licenses & Certifications: Active Registered Nurse License-NYS Required American Heart Association BLS for the Health Care Provider

    Required Languages: English Required

    Other Working Conditions: Physical stamina, manual, dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities.. REQUIRED LICENSES: Registered Nurse License-NYS
