    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Summer Research Intern. Students are expected to work full time in the laboratory conducting basic science research, to participate in weekly lab meetings and journal club, suturing workshops, and attend teaching conferences run by faculty and residents. Students prepare abstracts for presentation at the Plastic Surgery Blair Rogers Research Symposium the following summer.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Observe activities performed by a clinician (except as precluded by policy)
    • Participate in meetings associated with the research
    • Observe and set up laboratory experiments
    • Assist with setting up and calibrating laboratory equipment
    • Perform literature searches
    • Learn how to structure a research study, protocols, submit study documents assist with conducting surveys

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Perform basic tasks under supervision in area of specialty volunteer is pursuing in their course of study
    • The student intern must be a full-time student, or if working in the Summer months (Mid-May through Mid-Sept), must be planning to return to full-time status in the Fall.
    • During summer months, the position must be classified as Casual.
    • Functions performed must be NBU (non-bargaining-unit) work.
    • Functions performed must be related to their professional course of study or specialty field.

     

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
