POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Social Worker within the Congenital Cardio-Vascular Care Unit (CCVCU). Under the Supervision of a Social Work Supervisor or Director, provides psychosocial assessment and counseling services, including discharge planning to patients as assigned by the Department of Social Work at a level of independence requiring minimal supervision. This Senior Social Work position is part of the Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital with an assignment in the CCVCU. This social worker will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary CCVCU team, conducting psychosocial evaluations of patients and their families to determine psychosocial stressors that may impact their ability to care for their child post-surgically and create and facilitate safe discharge plans. Potential candidates should have strong interest in working with children and families, knowledge of developmental issues, chronic /life threatening illness and its impact on families. Candidates should be comfortable assessing for and intervening around issues of domestic violence and child protection collaborations, possess strong clinical skills, be self-directing, and be a strong advocate for social work and patients/families.
