    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager. In this role, the successful candidate will work within the Together Growing Strong (TGS) which is an initiative within The Department of Population Health in the NYU Grossman School of Medicine that aims to strengthen early childhood health and wellbeing by supporting families, providers, and educators in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The initiative uses an anti-racist approach, and is led by a core team of senior faculty in the NYU Grossman School of Medicine as well as the Vice President for Community programming in the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone Brooklyn. We are seeking a Project Manager to lead our community engagement strategies, focusing on overseeing and growing existing TGS outreach, documenting and aligning community-focused strategies across TGS programs, and elevating community voice in TGS program and advocacy planning, decision-making, and research. TGS values families culture and seeks to work with all different parts of the community; the Project Manager will be responsible for working with parents, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, educators, early childhood caregivers, and both social service and healthcare providers.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Oversee the existing TGS outreach program, which includes texting/WeChat groups and workshops/webinars;
        • Supervise Outreach staff and consider ways to expand our offerings and reach within the cultural context of Sunset Park;
        • Develop and maintain relationships with all aspects of community in Sunset Park, including parents, Family Health Center programs, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, educators, early childhood caregivers, and both social service and healthcare providers;
        • Oversee TGS community engagement strategies, including enhancing mechanisms to continually include community voice in planning and decision-making;
        • Identify opportunities align with other Community Engagement initiatives in Sunset Park;
        • Collaborate with Family Health Center and TGS program staff to document current community engagement strategies in individual TGS programs;
        • Review current strategies for engaging community and including community voice in planning, and lead a team of TGS staff to align, deepen and potentially expand that work;
        • Participate in data collection activities;
        • Participate in team meetings and supervision;
        • Complete other activities as requested.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree and 2 years experience working in community. Previous experience engaging with different cultures and community groups, and including community voice in decision-making processes. Previous experience with and continued interest in working with children and families, and with populations of color. Ability to collaborate with multiple community groups. Effective verbal and written skills, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Detail-oriented, conscientious, with strong organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and strong time management skills. Ability to work independently, and collaboratively within a large team. Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin
