    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Manager-Operations & Finance. In this role, the successful candidate will have responsibility for leading the operations of the Communication and Marketing department including efforts to improve financial and operational performance in line with departmental and institutional goals. The Senior Manager will report to the EVP of Communications and Marketing and directs activities including the development and monitoring of operational budgets, participation in long range planning, and management of various operational activities such as invoicing, payroll, HR transactions, and vendor/contract financial management. The Senior Manager will play a key role in partnering with departmental leadership and Finance colleagues to ensure financial performance in line with institutional expectations. This position will manage one direct report.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Liaise between internal and external support teams to keep all campaign spend timelines on tracking, as well as triaging and alerting stakeholders to risks as appropriate
    • Oversee vendor sourcing, contractor and operations onboarding, and overall management of external vendors including data partners, creative & media agencies, contractor and consultants in line with NYULH policies and procedures
    • Assists with the compilation of routine and ad hoc reports as needed for departmental and Senior Leadership; alerts departmental leadership of any special circumstances of concerns
    • Develop efficient budget management tools and invoice submission/management process for the department
    • Ensure day-to-day financial processes such as contract management, billing and receivables, payroll, invoice processing, contract management, and work with appropriate Finance colleagues as required to ensure appropriate recording of financial information, e.g. General Accounting
    • Provide support for HR activities such as recruiting, onboarding, and submission/resolution of HR MSS transactions
    • Review the financial management processes of the department to ensure processes are optimized and continually reviewed for updating
    • Manage collaborative contracts and financial obligations that include other departments i.e., split payments, internal transfers, etc.
    • Assists with special projects and additional financial/data analyses as needed
    • Actively oversees the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation for the annual operating budget submission working with Communications & Marketing stakeholders, departmental leadership and the Finance Budget team; prepares any necessary reports and schedules for budget review, meetings & presentations
    • Review the monthly variance reports from Finance to ensure that financial data is accurate and complete, including any variance explanations and additional financial analysis needed
    • Develop key analytics, dashboards, and reports to communicate financial performance within the department, to Senior Leadership and key stakeholders, as well as to support strategic decision-making
    • Review, analyze and process budget modifications for operating budgets, ensuring compliance with existing policies & procedures
    • Key contact to provides input into the Long Range Planning process for Communications & Marketing

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) A Minimum of ten years of related experience in accounting, financial management or budgeting roles in a complex organization A graduate in business or public administration may be substituted for the bachelors degree requirement and three years of the related experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to present clear and concise reports for varied audiences; strong organizational and interpersonal skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong working knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion financial systems and reporting Prior experience in a financial management role in a Communications or Media company
