POSITION SUMMARY:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of HR Communications. This a hybrid role that will be partially remote and on-site.
The Director of HR Communications must be a creative and detail-oriented leader who has a passion for marketing to develop and execute communications strategies for the NYU Langone Human Resources team. HR Communications spans the breadth of HR programs, policies and initiatives including but not limited to talent management, learning and development, talent acquisition, compensation, performance management and diversity and inclusion. As the leader for NYU Langone Human Resources Communications, you will guide the HR senior and executive leadership team by creating the communications strategies that will market our HR initiatives and bring them to life and deliver communication plans that drive business results and cultural connectivity. Deliver clear, concise and effective communications. Ability to craft creative and engaging content on various platforms that tie together various themes and information into one cohesive marketing message. Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of the communications sent out that market our programs and the success of the channels utilized and modify messaging as needed. The ideal candidate will lead our Communications efforts and must have strong marketing and communications skills, executive presence, high emotional intelligence, a broad understanding of HR programs, and a strong desire to have a long-term impact within a rapidly growing organization. This candidate will be responsible for utilizing their knowledge to craft creative, engaging, and dynamic communications that effectively market the content being shared. You will be responsible for managing assigned team, which involves direct and indirect supervision of staff. This position will report directly to the Assistant Vice President, of Talent Management.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and executes a comprehensive communications strategy. You will align messaging with the company’s vision, mission, and values and link internal and external messaging to ensure consistency; translating strategy into messages that are relevant for all types of employees.
- Oversees the execution of the communications strategy, including communications channels and vehicles to ensure timely, relevant and engaging delivery of information to key segments of internal stakeholders, and existing channels include employee Intranet, mobile app, employee focused social media channels, networked digital monitors, texting platform, and internal email.
- Oversees the social media function for Talent Acquisition to ensure our messaging is consistent internally as well as, externally on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc.
- Creates and implements strategic communications that markets our HR initiatives, drives employee engagement and a positive, transparent culture within the organization. While constructing communications that reflect brevity yet are welcoming and supportive.
- Develops and delivers clear and concise audience-first communications, including, but not limited to, executive messages, newsletters, campaigns, organizational announcements, targeted emails, briefing materials, articles, video scripts, and social media.
- Must be creative with messaging and understand the perspective of all the various audiences at the health system and why messaging may need to be different. Able to construct integrated messages that interconnect initiatives and services delivered by HR so it’s done with the perspective of how the employee views messaging.
- Creates varied content, incorporating graphics to capture the attention of the audience and develops innovative delivery channels to increase the agility, impact and speed of communications to stakeholders e.g. annual benefits enrollment, goal setting, etc.
- Provides direct support to crisis and emergency communications.
- Understands and integrates NYU Langone branding, tone, brand standards, and style guidelines in all communications.
- Partners and collaborates with Human Resources and the HR Leadership Team to market our initiatives.
- Develops materials and lead the review of Communications Cadence Roadmap for upcoming weeks/months. Coordinates with HR leads on weekly updates to Master Communications Tracker and Cadence Roadmap. Identifies and flags any potential issues related to communications release.
- Partners with Corporate Communications to ensure that all messages are aligned with corporate communications approaches and editorial calendars.
- Identifies and tracks key performance metrics to report on results. Consistently improves communications effectiveness by employing sophisticated use of data and analytics for all directly managed system-wide campaigns, and staying informed on functional best practices and innovation.
- Uses data-driven approach to inform ongoing strategy, optimizes content and channels, and identifies new and more effective ways to engage frontline workforce; provides regular dashboard reporting of production metrics to measure performance.
- Identifies opportunities to adopt new technology (communications app), makes process improvements and drives efficiencies to contribute fresh ideas to reach employees through modern communications channels and tactics. Researches, identifies and implements a Communication App to fully integrate the employee experience to ensure that each employee has access to the correct information at the right time (email, mobile, web, employee portal, etc.)
- Spearheads the communication efforts to showcase that we are employee of choice. Oversee the Best Employer Initiative by determining appropriate and relevant designations and oversee the preparation and submission of applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Writing/English. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience working in Corporate or HR communications and/or Marketing.
- Exceptional writing, storytelling, editing, and proofreading skills as well as, the journalistic ability to source stories from employees.
- Must demonstrate creativity to successfully integrate information from different subsets of Human Resources into exciting, engaging, and integrated communications that result in high rates of consumption amongst the targeted population.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, including senior executives.
- Manages sensitive/confidential matters; exercise sound judgement.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple assignments, stringent deadlines and changing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, OneDrive, and PowerPoint; SharePoint or similar intranet software; JungleMail or similar email communication tool. Ability to construct creative PowerPoint presentations. Experience with a digital workplace platform and an understanding of how to maximize their effectiveness.
- Demonstrates project management, presentation and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to write about complex concepts in easy-to-understand language and distill messaging to reach a diverse internal audience.
