    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nursing Site Leader, Langone Orthopedic Hospital

    In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for daily operational leadership of all nursing and patient care services at NYU Langone and for leading a wide range of strategic initiatives and innovations for the departments within nursing and related clinical areas where the practice of nursing occurs. Creates and supports a healthy work environment that fosters professional nursing practice and positive patient care outcomes; develops and provides leadership for the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the mission and values of NYU Langone Health which includes fiscal prudence; specifically guides the management of nursing practice, education/professional development, nursing research, nursing administration and nursing services. Is a member of a hospital and patient care services executive team charged with achievement of excellent patient outcomes and creating a highly sought after practice environment for nurses, nursing staff and interdisciplinary colleagues. Oversees programs related to achieving and maintaining Magnet Designation. Establishes strong relationships with all other disciplines in order to understand and integrate diverse perspectives into decision making process

    Job Responsibilities:

    • I. CLINICAL 1. Establishes, oversees and promotes a framework for professional nursing practice based on the mission and vision of NYULH through evidence-based practice, standards of care and regulatory requirements. 2. Designs, implements, and guides nursing care delivery systems appropriate to the patient and families. 3. Formulates new hospital/system-wide policies in collaboration with nursing leadership from the other campuses; ensures policies and procedures are periodically reviewed and updated and communicated. 4. Ensures that nursing teams have the clinical, information and organizational tools to serve patients and families effectively and efficiently. 6. Collaborates with nursing staff and other disciplines at all levels in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs in the context of shared decision making. 7. Collaborates with the Medical Directors and Service Chiefs in the design, development, and evaluation of patient safety, clinical programs, and issues, supporting service line accountability for such programs. 9. Fosters a culture that promotes high reliability, role modeling the principles of an HRO as outlined by NYULH. 8. Represents nursing and serves as patient advocate in various leadership committees at NYULH

    • II. LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT 1. Designs, refines, and evaluates systems of nursing care delivery across the continuum of service, collaborating with nursing leader peers and other disciplines in leading these programs. 2. Works closely with the SVP and the operational VPs to be a full partner in integration of high quality and safe patient care among disciplines and departments. 3. Works with administrative and clinical leadership in the development of programs, services and initiatives to anticipate future patient needs, build patient loyalty and generate
    profitable growth. 4. Provides leadership for development of a plan for achieving and
    sustaining the Magnet hospital designation for NYULOH. 5. Oversees effective and timely performance management that clearly defines work expectations, recognizes and rewards individuals, and addresses performance issues immediately and directly.
    6. Works collaboratively with Human Resources to assure personnel policies and labor relations activity are implemented effectively. Represents nursing and the organization in collective bargaining activities, fostering constructive relationship; delegates participation in labor relations to respective level of nursing management.

    III. FISCAL MANAGEMENT & RESOURCES 1. Ensures a clear understanding of the expectations of nursing leadership in relation to the NYU Langone Health strategic plan and budget, including milestones and measures of success; establishing annual operational priorities and implementation plans that align nursing and hospital services with physicians. 2. Participates as a member of the Hospital Executive Leadership team in the development of strategic capital and other resource priorities. 3. Provides fiscal oversight of allocated resources to optimize the provision of quality, cost effective care. Assures and optimizes fiscal resource allocation to support current and potential nursing/patient care initiatives.
    • IV. EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT 1. In coordination with NYULH resources, facilitates the implementation of the plan for nursing education, from orientation, through development and evaluation of education for all levels of nursing staff. 2. Maintains competency in managerial and leadership practice by participation in continuing education and professional organizations. 3. Works collaboratively with other professionals to design, implement, and evaluate patient education. 4. Participates in the development and provision of educational programs internally and externally as appropriate to areas of expertise, interest, and institutional need. 5. Fosters consultation, mentoring and designing of nurse staffing systems with other health system nurse leaders.

    V. EVALUATION, QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & RESEARCH 1. Creates the environment and advocates for resources supportive of nursing/practice research and scholarly inquiries. 2. Provides leadership for development and implementation of nursing quality and performance improvements specific to patient care. 3. Assures compliance with regulatory standards of the Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, CMS, and any other accrediting bodies pertinent to areas of responsibilities. 4. Integrates quality and performance improvement data on nurse-sensitive outcomes to support excellence in patient care. 5. In cooperation with interdisciplinary colleagues, assist in improving system-wide capability and delivery of care by capturing and sharing best practices across the campus and outside benchmarking.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Licensed as Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; minimum of graduate degree in Nursing or Nursing Administration from an accredited Program and six plus years of progressive nursing administration experience and 2 years of senior leadership experience ; demonstrated competence in communication and relationship building within nursing and other disciplines; financial planning and management; critical thinking, systems analysis, quality and performance improvement processes.
    Demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare environment, change processes, organizational development, human resources, labor relations, and professional nursing practice. Certification in nursing administration or relevant clinical specialty required; participation and leadership in professional organizations, such as AONL, NYONEL, ACHE and related specialty organizations highly desirable; physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity. Understands the tripartite mission and competing priorities of an academic medical center..

    Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $156,836.16 - $261,393.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
