    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director Outpatient Radiology - FGP

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Director of Outpatient Radiology FGP is responsible for the  outpatient radiology clinical operations (Non Long Island) for the NYU Langone Health Department of Radiology. This position reports directly to the Chair & Associate Chair of Outpatient Operations.

    This position oversees the operations of Radiology FGP practices which include over ten (10) outpatient diagnostic sites and one (1) Interventional Radiology site across 4 boroughs of New York City. Sites and services are added yearly. This position will oversee the growth and the expectation is that this candidate will support leadership in the process for successfully setting up new sites/services.

    This position is responsible for the management of over 150 staff including levels director, assistant directors, managers, and technology staff.

    This position will work closely with radiology leadership to engage other practice managers, referring physicians and vendor representatives and NYU SOM FGP stakeholders across the medical center to coordinate operational activities and obtain expected results.

    This position will also be responsible for identifying and implementing new operational initiatives and workflow changes to maximize performance. This position supports the strategic directives of radiology leadership.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE

    • Plans, directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of multiple ambulatory practices simultaneously
    • Support the Associate Chair of Outpatient Operations in continually assessing data for the performance of existing practices.
    • Implements any approved recommendations including but not limited to salary changes, alternative staffing models, practice closers
    • Operational Management Manage/perform operational assessments of existing practices against financial plans (both the annual budget and long-term financial needs and goals
    • Ensure regulatory compliance for ambulatory sites; maintaining regulatory policies and industry changes that may affect the manner in which we conduct business.
    • Develops and maintains ambulatory policies and procedures for the administration of the practice.
    • Engage facilities management as necessary for new construction and/or updates to current construction
    • Develop, implement and continuously improve tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to Radiology leadership and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations in support of the financial and operational results.
    • Ability to independently manage the service lines that service the ambulatory practices which include but are not limited to reading room coordinators, scheduling, medical records and customer service practices.
    • Lead outpatient patient satisfaction initiatives. Lead, implement and achieve strategies towards metric driven patient satisfaction goals
    • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

     

    BUSINESS GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

    • Partner with HOS and other institutions in the identification and evaluation of new business ventures and participates in the preparation of business plans for new practices and/or lines of business
    • Understand, support integration & implementation of new practice management products/technologists to enhance operational efficiencies
    • Oversee preparation of business plans for new practices and/or lines of business

    MARKETING

    • Manages the a team of Physician Liaisons implementing radiology leadership directives as necessary
    • Establish metric driven goals for Physician Liaisons and report on their data performance measures on a weekly basis
    • Leads marketing activities related to practice building for new innovative diagnostic and interventional radiology services
    • Collaborates with the representative from the Office of Communications & Marketing on initiatives to ensure that internal/external stakeholders are informed of the department of Radiology’s clinical and academic service advancements
    • Manage the departmental clinical and academic website content.
    • Participate in the preparation of the departmental annual report
    • Liaise with Marketing & Media Outreach for department and faculty clinical and academic visibility on national and international arena; alerting communications when faculty have high-profile publications and/or accomplishments and/or onboarding of new faculty
    • Alert Communications when new faculty join the department

    FINANCIAL / CONTRACT & VENDOR MANAGEMENT

    • Review and approve all expenses being charged to practices
    • Identifies expense reduction strategies for ambulatory practices
    • Support the preparation of the FY Budgets

    REPORTING & MEETINGS

    • Supports process for creation/dissemination of operational reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Reporting includes but is not limited to backlog data, scheduling reports, overtime analysis marketing reports.
    • Identifies gaps & problem solves any gaps in operational reporting
    • Conducts/leads a subset of ambulatory operational meetings for the Department of Radiology

    Represents the operational interests of the Department of Radiology in institutional meetings as necessary

    ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT

    • Serves as a resource to staff for issues regarding ambulatory operational process
    • Responsible for maintenance of the relationship with the FGP; implementing planning decisions, troubleshooting institutional issues and disseminating information as necessary to FGP leadership
    • Collaborates under the direction of Radiology Leadership with various internal and external parties including FGP, , Legal, and RED&F, Collaborates with leadership to develop new policies & procedures related to radiology operations in compliance with institutional policies & procedures.
    • Support the development of tools/systems to provide operational information to Radiology Leadership for actionable recommendations for operations to support positive financial results

    STAFF MANAGEMENT

    • Serves as a leader in the operations team.
    • Provides supervision for ambulatory operations staff which include levels up to and including directors, assistant directors, managers and staff
    • Mentors and develops a team of direct reports, hiring, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation and building effective team dynamics.
    • Participates in employee satisfaction initiatives
    • Ensures effective communication within and throughout all ambulatory radiology sites and radiology leadership
    • Responsible for setting staff goals.

    Responsible for disciplinary action as needed.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 5 years of operational management
    • Master's level degree or progressive leadership experience over 10 years in in radiology outpatient operations
    • Excellent knowledge of ambulatory operations
    • Excellent budget, cost control skills, organization skills and a management style Analytical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills required to interact successfully with professional groups and committees
    • Candidate must have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously
