    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Specialist - Community Outreach. In this role, the successful candidate will assist the Assistant Director with increasing the presence of the Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC) in the community by overseeing all programming and assisting with daily operations including budgetary issues and staff management.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. Oversight of all community outreach events for the PCC calendar of events from inception including health fairs, screenings and in-person and virtual lectures both on-site and off-site including being main decision maker regarding the important matters that arise during this process.

      • Create community outreach webinars through Zoom and Webex
      • Maintain webinar registration
      • Moderate webinars- introduce speakers and handle questions and answer sessions
      • Communicate with patients and community members post event and answer and questions they have and send them requested materials (copies of speaker’s slides, educational materials, contact information for speaker, how to make an appointment)
    2. Manage all PCC Digital Communications and Social Media Content through Meltwater.

      • Create, edit and review social content for PCC/NYU FB, Twitter and LinkedIn
      • Monitor social media performance through Meltwater reports
      • Maintain and plan out weekly social media schedule using social media calendar on One Drive
      • Plan and schedule daily content at optimal times on Meltwater
    3. Find images for social media use (stock images, headshots of doctors) and work with the NYU Langone Creative team to create infographics for special posts.

      • Reach out to doctors, nurses and other clinicians to get quotes for social media usage and edit them to a lay audience “user friendly” version
      • Maintain archive of photos to use for social media
      • Respond to any direct messages or user comments sent to PCC Facebook page
    4. Growth of PCC Social Media (Instagram, Twitter)

      • Attend bi-weekly cancer huddle meetings

       

    5. YouTube Created posts and content post event for social media outlets

      • Review and edit Newshubs for relevant social media content
      • Review Daily “In the News” emails for relevant social media content

       

    6. Implement and oversee Turning Technology’s audience response system

    7. Work with Media Services to post PCC videos on NYULH YouTube channel

    8. Work with Digital Communications to post events on PCC website

    9. MailChimp electronic newsletter:

      • Maintain and manage Community Outreach electronic mailing lists
      • Design and create content for Monthly Mailchimp blasts
      • Work with the Department of Communications and Dermatology to create Mailchimp ads to reach patients for a skin cancer clinical study
      • Work with the Department of Communications and the Pancreatic Cancer Center to create Mailchimp ads to reach patients for a pancreatic cancer study
      • Work with Communications to include appropriate cancer related articles and news in Mailchimp blast
      • Promote PCC Facebook and You Tube channels on Mailchimp communications

       

    10. Assist the Assistant Director with developing and maintaining the budget including monitoring daily spending and reporting. Including submitting all reimbursements, creating invoices, working with vendors, preparing program based budgets and departmental quarterly reports.

    11. In conjunction with the Assistant Director, develop new community outreach efforts to increase the presence of the PCC in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.

    12. Manage relationships with representatives of organizations that share a similar mission and make recommendations to PCC leadership as to which organizations we should cultivate new relationships.

    13. Communicate daily on various marketing and communications projects and social media initiative.

    14. Represent the PCC on internal and external committees and at events.  Establishing and furthering relationships with NYULH staff and faculty in other departments, which will assist us to strengthen our programs and further our mission.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree is health related or marketing field required. Five or more years of experience in community programming. Strong writing, editing skills for varied audiences. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask. Familiarity with networked office computer systems and software with relational databases.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Masters degree in health related field or marketing preferred.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $73,770.80 - $100,651.56 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
