Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Specialist, Speech Pathologist - Bellevue Hospital.
In this senior level role, the successful candidate provides speech, swallowing and feeding services independently primarily for medically complex pediatric patients.
Job Responsibilities:
Treatment planning responsibilities:
* Determining safety and candidacy for oral intake
* Performing and interpreting clinical and objective swallowing/feeding studies (i.e. modified barium swallow, fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing)
* Performing and interpreting Passy-Muir Speaking Valve assessments and follow-up.
* Performing and interpreting speech-language/cognitive assessments and therapy as needed
* Establishing the safest and least restrictive diet
* Creating feeding guidelines with aspiration precautions
* Developing and implementing feeding/swallowing plans of care
* Evaluating the safety of restarting/modifying oral feeds (i.e., post-intubation or aspiration event
* Facilitating advancement of diet as appropriate
* Weaning from tube feeding/enteral nutritional support, in collaboration with registered dietitian
General clinical duties:
* * Perform clinical and instrumental evaluation and follow-up of patients with speech, language, voice and swallowing/feeding disorders including but not limited to pediatric inpatient floor, trauma service, NICU, and PICU.
* Provide program development.
* Provide in-service training as needed
* Willingness to adhere to flexible work schedule, as needed
* Documents in accordance with department protocols
* Collaborates with medical team and ancillary services
* Attend evaluation conferences and rounds to discern progress and prognosis of patients under treatment, as appropriate.
* Guides, informs and counsels families with response to communication, swallowing and voice disorders and progress in treatment.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MA/MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology; NYS License, ASHA CCC-SLP, 5+ years in NICU setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Spanish a plus.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $110,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
