    Position Summary:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.

    The Research Scientist will work in Dr. Dowin Boatright's lab in Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine's Research Division to assist with his NIH and foundation funded projects, including an NIGMS funded study to identify evidence-based interventions to increase the diversity of MD-PhD matriculants in the US and a study to develop a tool to measure the climate of equity and inclusion across medical schools nationally.

    This position will employ a deep understanding of evidence synthesis and data analysis and interpretation. This position will coordinate efforts across the team to produce results, spearhead the manuscript development and submission process, and assist with new proposals for funding. A successful applicant will be able to work independently with diverse colleagues and staff at all levels, and comfortable in the academic medical center environment.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Initiates, interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates research assignments critical to department's mission.
    * Maintain a thorough knowledge of the research studies and procedures.
    * Formulates and conducts research on problems of considerable scope and complexity.
    * May serve on internal committees to help further goals of research projects and bring new expertise to the research program.
    * May coordinate the activity and experimental design between various labs, scientific staff, and collaborators. Identifies and resolves technical problems.
    * Make significant contributions to scientific papers. Is a resource/ author/ co-author for reports and presentations.
    * Maintains a thorough knowledge of the advances in specialized fields through attendance of scientific conferences.
    * Develops research techniques and methodologies.
    * May develop protocol for the collection and quality of research data.
    * May be responsible research/lab quality control and compliance.
    * May participate in writing grant proposals.
    * Ensures timely and accurate completion of research projects.
    * Develops new ideas that promote current research. Exercises a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance.
    * Makes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activities.
    * Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies or series of projects of lesser scope.
    * Performs other related duties as assigned
    

    Minimum Qualifications:

    To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Doctorate degree (PhD, MD, EdD, DrPH or equivalent) in public health, psychology, epidemiology, public policy, business administration, engineering, mathematics or related fields
    2+ years of research-related experience
    Established record of publications

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,900.00 - $62,400.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
