    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager.    Together Growing Strong (TGS) is an initiative within The Department of Population Health in the NYU School of Medicine with a long-term goal of increasing school readiness among children and their families in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The initiative is led by a core team of senior faculty in the NYU School of Medicine as well as the Vice President for Community programming in the Family Support Center at NYU Langone Brooklyn. We are seeking a Project Manager to work closely with us to oversee and implement strategies and approaches to support families and enhance childrens development. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in early childhood development, community-based program implementation, project management including oversight of research and program staff, and data collection with young children and their families. Knowledge of programs and services for children and families is essential. Sunset Park is a diverse community with large numbers of immigrants from China and Latin America. Given the large immigrant population in Sunset Park, fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is preferred.

     

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Program Development and Implementation -Use expertise to develop and implement early childhood programs within the TGS initiative -Monitor and suggest modifications to early childhood programs -Oversee staff implementing programs -Identify opportunities to engage with community and learn more about the needs of caregivers in Sunset Park. -Oversee the development of materials to address needs/concerns of the community.
    • Project Management: -Oversee day to day operations and logistics for TGS early childhood programs. -Responsible for monitoring deadlines, workflows and projects, and reporting metrics and progress on core activities. -Assign and delegate tasks to staff and interns. -Communicate effectively with partner community-based organizations in order to ensure work plans are appropriately planned and implemented.
    • Research Activities: -Work with TGS evaluation team to integrate early childhood expertise into the research design and implementation. -Review study protocols to assist in the planning and implementation of programs and evaluation activities. o Contribute to IRB applications, as needed.
    • Reports: -Coordinate and prepare weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly management and status reports for TGS senior leadership and team
    • Attend regular TGS team meetings and supervision.
    • Perform other duties as requested.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Qualified applicants with a minimum MA/MS (PhD preferred) in early childhood education, developmental psychology or related field are encouraged to apply.
    • Candidates must have 3 years experience and demonstrated competence in one or more of the following areas: Project management, program evaluation with vulnerable populations, early childhood education and development, parent-child interaction and family processes, and services for children and families.
    • The successful candidate should be detail-oriented and highly motivated.
    • The candidate should have strong communication skills, data management skills, and organizational skills.
    • Prior experience in field-based research project management including oversight of research and program staff, data collection with young children and their families, and knowledge of programs and services for children and families is essential.
    • Sunset Park is a diverse community with large numbers of immigrants from China and Latin America. Prior experience working with immigrant families in Mandarin or Spanish is a plus. Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin is preferred.
