    Job Description:

    NYU Radiology is a world class radiology department known for its work in IT innovation with incredible industry collaborations.  We are leaders in workflow enhancements, understanding analytics, changing the way radiologists and clinicians interact, as well as, re-imagining radiology and patient interactions.  BE PART OF A WORLD CLASS IT ORGANIZATION LEADING TRANSFORMATIONAL CHANGE THROUGH OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE.  BE PART OF THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT. 

    NYU Radiology has 250 attendings, 70 trainees and 30 full time research faculty.  It is a dynamic academic environment with over 100 outpatient imaging locations.  There is a robust portfolio of research projects in radiology.  NYU Langone Medical Center, a world-class, patient-centered, integrated, academic medical center, is one of the nation's premier centers for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research and medical education.

    We run a distributed PACS having upgraded to Visage PACS spring of 2021, an ACUO VNA, Powerscribe 360 for dictation and Primordial for workflow.  There are various post processing applications part of our ecosystem.  We are using Epic Radiant as our RIS.  The NYU Langone Radiology department is an Innovative department on the cutting edge of workflow enhancements for radiologists and radiology patients’ experience. 

    Our recent innovation projects include optimizing reading worklists, patient facing video reports recorded by radiologists, cinematic rendered images and simulated reading worklists for teaching.  We are focused on continuously improving our tele-radiology solutions and improving support for the radiologists.

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director, Radiology IT reporting into medical center IT and supporting the Radiology department.

     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Radiology IT Director works closely with the chair of radiology and Senior Director for clinical systems defining the strategy and vision for the next years of radiology IT vision.  The successful candidate is a strong leader and mentor of a large team with strong organizational and leadership skills. He/She is an innovative problem solver who is excited about the next set of challenges to solve. 

    The Radiology IT Director manages multiple initiatives concurrently.  She/He leads requirement gathering, proposing, planning and executing or radiology proposals.  This includes but is not limited to partnering with other MCIT leaders to develop and execute on solutions.

    The Radiology IT Director leads a team of 24 individuals including managers leads and analysts who are located remote, on campus and at the various hospitals and imaging sites.  The director is responsible for the selection, customization, configuration, installation and support of technical solutions. Understands the work processes of radiology operational areas and oversees the collection of user requirements and the translation of them into well-engineered, tested, and deployed business application systems. Responsibilities include the analysis, design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of information. 

    The Director maintains an in-depth knowledge of radiology software and workflows. They serve as a liaison between the radiology department users and MCIT staff.  They provide guidance and training to junior level staff. The Director is recognized as a leader internally and externally for assigned applications and often provides strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services. As a member of the leadership team for radiology as well as MCIT imaging systems the Director also has responsibility for the success of the broader Innovation and MCIT projects. The Director supports the mission and vision of the organization with their team members.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the overall architecture direction for the application or the technical area.
    • Adds value to the organization through the direct management of staff and IT resources by directing and managing staff, budgeting for the work group, planning for future resource needs, management reporting, and establishing and ensuring the attainment of objectives and service levels for the work unit/project team.
    • Manages team in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning and standard development practices.
    • Participates in budgeting and capital equipment processes and quality improvement activities for the development organization.
    • Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner.
    • Has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing technology solutions.
    • Manages multiple functions/projects simultaneously
    • Responsible for providing strategic direction for the organization.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Advanced analytical skills and experience implementing Radiology applications, including but not limited to PACS. Strong interpersonal relationship skills. Good process design experience. Demonstrate ability in staff mentoring and adherence to process standards around documentation and workflow design. Advanced project management skills (ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, maintain issues list, manage project plan). Ability to lead discovery initiatives to identify appropriate system solutions. Strong team building and management skills a must. Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Bachelors or Master’s Degree in a relevant field of work and 7+ years of experience. Healthcare experience is required.
