    POSITION SUMMARY:

    NYU Langone Health is a proud participant in the NIH-funded POST-ACUTE SEQUELAE OF SARS-COV-2 INFECTION INITIATIVE (PASC). This 4-year initiative aims to answer key research questions needed to advance our understanding of Long COVID and discover effective therapeutics to address it. The Research Coordinator position is part of the CLINICAL SCIENCE CORE (CSC) whose purpose is to coordinate the development and implementation of master protocols and to provide expertise in clinical protocol design, implementation, and execution of large clinical research studies for the PASC consortium. This is an interdepartmental effort that includes (but is not limited to) the Office of Science and Research (OSR), Department of Medicine, Department of Population Health, and Medical Center IT.

    The Research Coordinator position is part of the Community Engagement unit of the CSC which is housed within the Department of Population Health (http://pophealth.med.nyu.edu/). The Research Coordinator will work closely with the Sr. Research Project Manager in promoting community engagement activities across all the participating study sites and may also work closely with the Communications team to ensure engagement content and materials available across all PASC platforms (website and social media) are appropriate for target audiences, including patients and community members.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of our research studies/protocols, study rationale, and processes.
    2. Project Coordination - Provide coordination for Project activities under the direction of the Senior Research Project Manager that includes, but is not limited to, maintaining all files, working with internal and external parties to organize and coordinate the various components needed to initiate, run, and conclude Project activities; develop Project timelines and workflows; and oversee and coordinate schedules, activities, and special events.
    3. Materials – Review, modify, and develop targeted recruitment and engagement materials (e.g., flyers, FAQs, PowerPoint presentations, brochures) that are based on health literacy principles to be used by participating study sites and in trainings, meetings, and webinars.
    4. Reports - Prepare and review documents independently and generate status/progress reports for ongoing and pending Project. Plan, arrange, outline, and draft letters, memos, agendas, presentations and reports. Review, edit and obtain appropriate approvals.
    5. Engagement - Serve as point of contact for community and other stakeholder partners and refer the more complex issues with recommendation to supervisor. Follow protocols as defined by granting organizations and Medical Center's policies and procedures.
    6. Project Activities - Research/gather and collect data from different parties and present findings and preliminary analysis as applicable. Research problems, issues, and concerns and respond to requests for information. Develop materials, curricula, and presentations for training, educational, and outreach sessions for multiple end users including community partners, patient representatives, and other stakeholders.
    7. Participate in special projects and performs other duties as required.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field.
    • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
    • Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
    • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
    • Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.
    • Ability to operate research related equipment
    • Ability to work and make decisions independently.
    • Time management skills and ability to multitask.
    • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
    • Ability to work well under pressure.

     

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Masters degree or equivalent in public health or related field
    • Demonstrated relevant experience in at least one of the following:
    • working with racially and ethnically diverse populations (e.g., Asian American, Black, Latinx, Native American), youth and their caregivers, and/or with other underserved populations.
    • communicating and disseminating health related content using a community engagement and health literacy lens.
    • Strong commitment to (and/or desire to learn about) health disparities, equity, and medical ethics research.
    • Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Familiar with Internet applications.
    • Familiar with REDCap or Qualtrics.
    • Familiar with Institutional Review Boards .
    • Demonstrate interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate, collaborate, and establish and maintain good working relationships with a diverse population of multi-disciplinary researchers, faculty, staff, and community and patient representatives.
    • Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion with individuals both internal and external to our team.
    • Demonstrate skill in written communication that expresses complex clinical and scientific content in understandable terms.
    • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
    • Ability to contribute to a respectful work environment of a diverse team and leadership.
    • Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
    • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment and support team morale.
    • Ability to multi task while paying attention to details.
