    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Inpatient-Finance Services.

    In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the overall planning, organization, direction and control of the Revenue Cycle Operations for Government Financial Classes (Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation and No Fault). Cross campus duties and responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to: (1) personnel management, (2) operating and capital budget preparation assistance, (3) financial counseling, billing and collections management, (4) policies and procedures development assistance, (5) ensuring optimal customer relations, and (6) maximizing Accounts Receivable collections

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversees the hiring, training, and termination of managers, supervisors, and staff.Recommends adjustments to overall staffing levels to service all campuses.Ensures staff is adequately trained and competent to perform job tasks.Identifies need for and notifies management of training and education needs for employees, including cross-training for multi-campus responsibilities. Provides assistance to staff to resolve personnel and operational issues. Elevates non-compliance or other issues to senior management as appropriate. Fosters positive working relationships between the Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations staff and the staff of other units, departments, and campuses of NYU Medical Center.Creates and fosters a department culture that provides a satisfying and enriching environment in which staff can development.
    • Assists in the preparation of the Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations annual operating and capital budget.
    • Manages Financial Counseling. Ensures timely and accurate assessment of patients in the Financial Counseling process: including Medicaid Eligibility, Financial Assistance Eligibility, Long Stay In-house Case Review, Deposit Collection,Insurance Information Development and Verification and Payment Plan Development. Monitors and tracks performance based on established performance criteria. Monitors usage and interfaces of information systems to identify arising issues and resolution.
    • Manages billing and collections, maximizing Accounts Receivable collections. Ensures timely and accurate billing. Monitors discharge/not billed to ensure timely coding and issues resolution. Monitors and ensures timely electronic bill submissions via E-premis. Monitors and ensures Productivity and Quality Standards Attainment. Monitors Clinical Trials billing activity. MonitorsWorklists and Reports to ensure Work remains current and accurate. Monitors and tracks accounts receivable performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.Manages and directs outsourced accounts receivable activity. Develops and monitors performance goals of agencies and recommends strategies to address performance measures.
    • Develops/Updates policies and procedures for Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations. Resolves problems within the policies and procedures of the Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations Department. Prepares necessary reports to executive management.
    • Ensures optimal customer relations. Develops and revises policies and procedures for the Customer Service and Support Teams as deemed necessary. Provides feedback to affected internal and external stakeholders/customers. Ensures that needs and questions of customers are addressed in a professional and timely manner.
    • Keeps current on emerging industry issues. Makes timely adjustments in procedures inconsideration of market trends for all member hospitals. Provides timely information to staff on emerging industry issues. Ensures that NYU Medical Center is in compliance with all federal, state, regulatory and contractual requirements.
    • Manages new program development (internal). Ensures appropriate processes are developed to effectively register, bill and collect accounts. Responsible for proper communication with customers. Develops performance measures and a feedback mechanism. Establishes timeframes for finance readiness. Ensures proper billing functions are developed. Provides for ongoing support to operations.
    • Manages new ventures (external). Establishes short and long-term goals for integrating new lines of business/providers. Determines customer service impact of acquiring new facilities. Provides on-site management of acquired accounts receivable. Develops integration/implementation plan with milestones and due dates. Incorporates or notifies appropriate stakeholders where and when necessary. Responsible for appropriate communication to all customers.Integrates people, processes, and technology where applicable.Determines/Assesses impact to existing operations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in business administration or a related field. Minimum of 5-8 years of demonstrated responsible experience in the managerial role of a Revenue Cycle Operations department. Must be able to work cooperatively and independently with physicians, hospital operations, employees and the public. Must be able to handle pressure to meet deadlines and to control budget and personnel issues in a positive and proactive manner. Must be able to function effectively in an environment where interruptions or changes in priorities may occur

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration or related field. 8+ years of demonstrated responsible experience in the managerial role of a Revenue Cycle Operations department. 3+ years of demonstrated Patient Accounting experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, and No Fault payors

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.38 - $243,974.35 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
