    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Manager - Physical Therapy.

    In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the management and coordination of all practices for the Physical Therapy Outpatient Department. This will include all compliance related issues, daily operations and related workflow projects to enhance clinical programs, and customer satisfaction with operations. This position will also be responsible in conjunction with the Director of the Department to work with unit specific clinical leadership (supervisors) to ensure appropriate levels of clinical development and productivity occur. Clinical direction will be supported by the Associate Directors and Director of the PT Departments. This position will be working together with the Rusk Business Office to accomplish the goals of excellence in patient care flow

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.
    * Plans, organizes and monitors Outpatient Unit activities as established with the supervisory staff. Ensures accurate referral and scheduling processes, collaborates with RBO to ensure related functions and work flow are adequately managed. Provides guidance and leadership to PT supervisory staff regarding compliance issues and works in conjunction with RBO to facilitate effective processes. Responsible directly for all Performance Appraisals of PT OPD management staff. Works with clinical leadership to ensure that scheduled workloads are based on the knowledge of patient needs, the capabilities of the staff members, volunteers, students and other individuals. Works with Outpatient management to take appropriate steps to correct errors in the delivery of patient care either through direct action or communication to ensure patient safety and delivery.
    * Management of Outpatient Staff with Clinical Programs and non-clinical administrative practices for the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department areas. Determines the productivity of each unit based on patient needs, staffing qualifications and/or organizational constraints. Works with Outpatient Management to ensure assignments are understood and appropriate follow up with management occurs to ensure desired outcomes are reached. Supervises Outpatient PT management and Outpatient PT Project Assistant and supervisory staff. This includes ongoing feedback and guidance as well as timely completion of written performance appraisals. Assists the Director and Associate Directors in the hiring of appropriate Outpatient Management personnel for positions.
    * Responsible for orienting and training all staff related to Outpatient PT operations. Responsible for complete orientation and training of all Project Assistants and the Supervisor of PAs that work for the PT Outpatient Departments in collaboration with the unit specific supervisory staff. Ongoing monitoring of performance of the Project Assistants and the Supervisor of PAs in the Outpatient PT Department. Ensures all Outpatient PT management staff are trained and updated in all aspects of their positions. Ensures Outpatient PT management staff are compliant with regulatory changes and existing rules. This will be done with over site and involvement of Clinical leadership.
    * Implements any new Policies and Procedures related to compliance changes or organizational changes to support smooth operations with the management team. Assures compliance with the regulatory mandates of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals, New York State Department of Health, CARF, New York City Department of Health, and rules and regulations of the Medical Staff. Establishes systems to communicate any policy or procedural change to all departmental staff and other Medical Center personnel, as required. Utilizes audit results, quality assurance reports and incident reports to improve the quality of service provided. In conjunction with the Director develops and approves new policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness of Outpatient Departmental services.
    * Budget and Cost Containment - Controls Hospital Center costs by seeking the most effective and efficient means of performing assigned functions. Establishes systems and monitoring to ensure accurate and timely charge entries. Establishes a review/audit system for this process to ensure consistency. Works with the Director on Labor Productivity and staff utilization in conjunction with the Associate Directors. Assists in the preparation of the budgets when requested by the Director. Monitors departments operating performance to maintain spending within budgeted resources. When requested by the Director, compares actual spending to monthly budgeted amount and explains variances adequately and develops plans of correction.
    * Regulatory Compliance/Quality Assurance - Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations for Outpatient PT services. Communication of compliance activities and monitors to Director of services. Acts as a liaison with HJDs Outpatient PT services for compliance issues. Adequately prepares for periodic inspection by regulatory agencies. Designs and implements and effective departmental quality assurance program; makes periodic changes. Works to educate all PT management on compliance updates and assists in the development and implementation of training all levels of staff.
    * Reports/Documentation - Maintains records and prepares reports required by the department. Responsible for monitoring patient encounters, units of service, volume and monthly target monitors with clinical supervisors/managers and reporting this data on a regular basis to Clinical Director. Patient Satisfaction surveys and a PI process to improve patient care. Collaborative efforts with RBO and PFS for all related reports and activities.
    * Program Development - Plans, develops and implements new procedures for respective units with management staff. Participates actively in the discussion and development of Cerner as well as the new documentation system. Schedules and conducts regular meetings with key personnel of medical center departments to promote the most effective services. Addresses all contingencies in a plan. Uses verifiable data as a basis for planning. Proposes and implements programs for the generation of new revenue. Oversees all activity programs to ensure compliance with departmental policies. Effectively identifies plans and future needs (i.e. staffing, resources, etc.) and problem areas of the unit. Assists in the development of workable solutions and follows through with their implementation.
    * Communications/Relationships with Others - Promotes effective communication between all staff members and interdepartmental personnel. Cooperates and communicates effectively and harmoniously with superiors, peers, subordinates, physicians, other Medical Center staff, patients, their families, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient, physician and hospital related information. Encourages open communication of opinions amongst staff in an attempt to identify and resolve problems in the various Outpatient Units.
    * Initiative/Time Utilization - Makes suggestions for positive change. Demonstrates independent thinking. Readily accepts new responsibilities and assignments. Recognizes when help is needed by other s and offers guidance and assistance. Work is well thought out and planned in advance, is able to successfully implement a plan. Determines priorities, and coordinates own work with the work of the staff to achieve efficiency.
    * Attendance and Additional Performance Standards.
    * Performs other duties as assigned.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. Current New York State license, registration, or certificate appropriate to profession. Minimum of seven years experience in a rehabilitation setting, including a minimum of two years of supervisory or administrative experience. Strong background in Clinical program operations and program development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential. Heavy interaction with department administrators, physicians and clinical staff.
    BLS certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) OR Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Membership in professional organization. Involvement in continuing education courses related to the delivery of service in Outpatient Therapy departments and issues of regulations. Maintain clinical excellence in preferred area

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,065.99 - $140,467.61 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
