    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director-Creative Services. In this role, the successful candidate executes on a broad range of digital design projects and initiatives in support of the NYU Langone Health brand. Manages and mentors three direct reports Serves as the administrator and product owner of the institutions photo archive (Merlin) and digital template library (LucidPress) Maintains expert knowledge of NYU Langone Health visual identity system and design guidelines, serving as a consultant to all users Works in partnership with Director, Creative Services in providing design/visual vision and direction for the Department of Communications + Marketing

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Leadership
    • Manages a team of three: graphic/motion designer; photo editor/producer; operations lead, provides daily direction; ongoing mentoring and design critiques; performs annual performance review
    • Assigns projects within the team and holds members accountable for their delivery
    • Upholds the institutions visual identity system, provides training and guidance to users internally and externally
    • Visual Asset Manager
    • Serves as product owner of Merlin, the enterprise-wide digital asset management tool and Lucid Press, the digital template library
    • Educates users both within Communications and Marketing as well as multiple contributing departments
    • Manages the intake of all photography and guides external photographers
    • Creates and maintains taxonomy for organizing and storing images
    • Maintains the user base, confirms registrations and controls user permissions

    • Leverages own talents and that of the team in executing a variety of design projects from concept to completion, including but not limited to: print, photo/photoshoots, digital signage, motion
    • Works closely with media, social media, digital editorial and marketing teams to create visual material to illuminate various health topics
    • Stays current on design trends and identifies new digital tools that support creativity, efficiency productivity
    • Collaborates with creative director in expressing the brand across mediums

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in visual design or related field. 10+ years of multi-faceted design experience, preferably within an agency or in-house team (non-profit, cultural or academic institution highly desirable) 3-4 years supervisory experience 3-5 years of experience working in a digital asset management system A portfolio reflective of design across a broad spectrum of channels and a high degree of creativity Highly expressive, accurate and engaging interpersonal, written and presentation skills Self-motivated and energized about the entire creative process from concept to delivery An impeccable eye for visual interest and detail Able to manage time efficiently and keep projects and files well-organized Able to navigate a large institution and understand its mission Able to anticipate problems and address them resourcefully and diplomatically

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skilled at leading and inspiring a creative team and providing constructive feedback Firm understanding of building and expanding a taxonomy for organizing and storing an institutions visual media assets Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Solid knowledge of typography and color theory Experience in designing for digital platforms, CRMs, email, etc. A strong command of digital marketing principles Video editing/motion design experience a plus
