    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Affairs Coordinator. The Community Affairs Coordinator will build and maintain relationships with a variety of community-based organizations, senior centers, religious groups, schools and social services agencies, community boards, and district offices of elected officials. Relationship building will focus on catchment areas in North and South Brooklyn, and may include Brooklyn, other boroughs, or citywide efforts. The Community Affairs Coordinator will represent NYU Langone Health interests in community settings, including contribution to a positive reputation, facilitating mission-centered efforts, and providing information about services and programs to the public. The Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager of Community Affairs, and will work collaboratively with other staff in the Office of Government and Community Affairs. This position will be located full-time in Brooklyn. The candidate must also be able to travel and attend meetings in Manhattan and other sites within the NYU Langone Health system. Candidate must be able to working evenings and weekends on occasion, covering events, meetings, and other community events as requested.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Meet regularly with community groups and organizations with a focus on catchment areas in Brooklyn, and other areas as needed

    • Represent NYU Langone Health at community meetings and events

    • Arrange meetings and presentations for leadership, departments, programs and services within NYU Langone Health to community audiences

    • Monitor local news and issues of interest to the health system

    • Attend internal meetings to keep abreast of health system priorities and changes

    • Support community events, including coordination of staffing and supply logistics

    • Contribute to institution’s NYU Langone Health In the Community report

    • Provide reports of activities to the Senior Manager and staff in the Office of Government and Community Affairs

    • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned by the Office of Government and Community Affairs

    • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Must have a Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant work experience working directly in the community. Must work and communicate effectively with different communities and groups of diverse cultures, cultural competency and sensitivity are necessary. Demonstrate ability to be self-directed, and initiate new ideas as well as possess the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and efficient time management skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred and other bilingual skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, web based meeting platforms, and knowledge of social media platforms

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $63,935.04 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
