    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Systems Specialist.

    Under general supervision of the Security Systems Manager, the Security System Specialist will assist in the development, evaluation, implementation, management, and training for the various electronic, radio and computer-based Security System. Design Program that support the security functions at the Medical Center. The Security System Specialist will report, and support the Security Systems Manager and Leadership Team by collaborating with various departments on security system projects including the development and implementation of design standards, installation of alarm systems, Video Monitoring System (VMS), access control and physical hardening of sensitive areas.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Aligns with Security Operations and other departments to streamline and coordinate support and services (Carpentry, Electrical Shop, Locksmiths etc.) related to security systems, devices, and hardware
    * Conduct daily reviews of the functionality of the institution’s 4,000+ IP camera network; 80+ Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and coordinate repair of identified issues (e.g. down camera, blurry images), as well as, performing security audits via video surveillance of potential security vulnerabilities (e.g. doors propped open); 
    * Update and maintain system documentation for Video Management System, Access Control System, Infant Monitoring
    * Monitors and opens request for service, coordinates resolution and communicates findings
    * Provides technical support related to access control requests associated with executive leadership meetings in conference rooms, maintains and updates an accurate list of authorized staff for highly sensitive clinical research labs and other areas across the campus (Alexandria, Medical Science Building, Smilow etc.)
    * Function as subject matter expert on the various computer-based systems utilized in the security and safety environment
    * Responsible for coordinating project, schedules, resources, equipment, and information.
    * Monitors project progress and provide updates to leadership or project stakeholders
    * Manage card-access system(s) and user profiles/user rights in the various security related systems
    * Assist end-users on basic security software, hardware and peripheral device operation and use, including but not limited to VMS and card access technology, security incident reporting
    * Responsible for answering routine and emergency calls, monitoring alarms and video equipment including fire alarms, door alarms, and duress alarms 
    * Liaison with vendor contacts to resolve technical issues within the safety and security environment
    * Maintains adequate and industry awareness of knowledge of application software used to provide a high level of support, to include but not limited to VMS and card access technology, security incident reporting, mass communication, ID card/identity systems, and visitor management systems
    * Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and following all security policies and procedures regarding the management of sensitive information and situations (medical record, personnel issues, investigations, public relations incidents, emergency personnel contact information, etc.)
    * Responsible for any other related duties as assigned
    

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree Required.
    • Three (3) years of experience related to security systems hardware/software/applications,, installation, analysis, and repair of security and video surveillance equipment, or other related experience.
    • Ability to prioritize and provide results under fast paced conditions involving varying levels of urgency and complexity
    • Highly organized and detail oriented to keep pace in frequently changing conditions
    • Ability to work independently and with limited supervisor oversight or instruction
    • Ability to serve as liaison in the absence of Manager at project meetings
    • Uses discretion and judgment when serving as liaison with other departments
    • Strong communication skills (e.g. orally, written, and electronically) to assist with external vendor coordination. Provide end user training for newly installed equipment
    • Proficient in the use of computer systems and software, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Ability to perform physical security surveys, in various environments, which may require the need to lift in excess of 50 pounds

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 8 years work experience in related field
    • Valid New York state driver's license preferred.
    • Low voltage electrical Certification
    • Knowledge and compliance with Medical Center policies and procedures
    • Experience working in an academic, research and / or healthcare setting
    • Ability to assist and advise department leaders regarding project requirements and specifications related to Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests or Proposals (RFP)
    • Ability to troubleshoot and coordinate the appropriate corrective action of system issues related but not limited to IT network, communications systems (both data and voice) and office communication (e.g.
    • Word processing, spreadsheet, presentations etc.)
    • Experience in identifying and implementing cost saving measures/process improvements

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,931.00 - $98,218.33 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
