    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Relations Representative, International Patient Services. In this role, the successful candidate The mission of the International Patient Services (IPS) is to optimize the entire international patient experience at NYULH through personalized care coordination, while serving as the medical centers global link to the world, and bridging the communication gap between Healthcare providers and a variety of international patients cultures. Serving as liaison between physicians, patients, their families and NYULH Staff. The International Patient Services coordinator is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the International Services Program including care coordination and financial processes. You will also perform Basic function of a financial representative for international patients by coordinating amongst financial teams, including hospital and professional finance to consolidate fees for all international patients accounts. Maintaining consistent communications with patients and their families regarding financial matters.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Serves as the main point of contact to respond and direct all international patients’ inquiries for information on medical services at NYULH and the International Services Department. Solicits additional medical information when necessary and facilitates referral to appropriate physician.

    2. Establishes contact with international patients during their course of treatment to assist with all needs and services during their stay.

    3. Performs Basic function of a financial representative by Register, receive, monitor, collect, and consolidate hospital and professional services fees for all international patient accounts.

    4. Provides assistance to physicians’ offices with international patient referrals not originating from International Services Department, to ensure consistency and highest caliber of care.

    5. Works closely with financial teams within NYULH (including Hospital and Professional services) to determine treatment costs, follow-up with patients upon completion of procedures.

    6. Collaborate with the International Patient Services Manager and leadership to develop and implement a targeted global marketing and business development strategy to generate additional international patient volumes for NYULH.

    7. Identify and pursue new international partnerships, including identifying potential strategic partners, establishing appropriate contacts, planning and executing respective site visits, developing appropriate agreements, and monitoring activities to ensure successful compliance with terms of agreement.

    8. Cultivate new collaborative relationships and reinforce existing ones with key stakeholders throughout the Medical Center and key purchasers of international healthcare to foster future program growth.

    9. Establishes contact with international patients during their course of treatment to assist with all needs, questions, and additional services during their stay.

    10. Must possess sufficient analytical skills to independently prepare financial estimates and pre-admission deposit estimates, and capable of determining and negotiating appropriate payment arrangements.

    11. Collect, compile, analyze and react to operational data, statistics and other material for monthly reports, budgeting, and financial analysis of program.

    12. Ensures constant communication with the Department’s Senior Director and the assigned financial Managers to manage appropriate patient assignment and Coordination, estimate development and financial clearance.

    13. Assists international patients with pre-arrival needs, i.e. letter of appointment/estimate for medical treatment, visa letters, travel arrangements, housing accommodations, interpretation services and initial medical and diagnostic appointments.

    14. Proactively identify any opportunities for service or process improvements and develop and implement related project plans.

    15. Ability to diplomatically interact with and maintain close liaison with a variety of people including patients, third party payers, physicians’ offices and all levels of NYU management, particularly within Patient and Financial Services Divisions required.

    16. Educates the medical team and staff thorough the medical center on appropriate cultural preferences to ensure that our patients feel respected and comfortable.

    17. Provides Medical interpretation to international patients

    18. Provides Medical interpretation to domestic as needed, and when directed by leadership

    19. Meet/Greet with patients and other NYULH departments at multiple Medical Center locations as needed.

    20. Performs other duties as assigned.

    21. Position requires flexible working hours.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Minimum of two years experience in the hospital field, including care coordination, financial processes, interpretation, translation, customer service or patient advocacy in a healthcare facility or related service industry. Verbal and written fluency in foreign language and English (Arabic is a preferred requirement for this job). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good computer skills. Sensitivity to and awareness of cultural differences.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree or Equivalent experience P Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel in a professional setting R Verbal and written fluency in a language other than Englishpreferably Spanish or Arabic. R Experience in public relations and/or working in international environment P

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $80,572.96 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
