    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Manager-Art Program.

    The mission of Real Estate Development and Facilities (RED+F) is to plan, develop, operate and maintain the campus of the NYU Langone Health and provide the foundation for its growth and success in the future. RED+F provides strategic campus planning and project development services, including architectural studies, programming, design, construction and associated infrastructure and technological upgrades, for both new structures and renovations to existing structures on the NYU Langone Health campus. RED+F also operates and manages all facilities, infrastructure and related support services across the enterprise.

    RED+F is composed of the Real Estate, Housing, Planning & Project Development, Facilities Operations & Management, Design Studio, Finance & Administration, Campus Security, Environmental Services, Environmental Health & Safety, Radiation Safety and Clinical Engineering divisions.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work independently and in coordination with the Art Manager to research, identify sites for integration of artwork, and procure contemporary artwork for the main hospital campus in Manhattan as well as hundreds of off-site facilities throughout the tri-state area;
    • Manage communication with artists, galleries, and institutions in the U.S. and worldwide in the acquisition of artwork for the NYU Langone Art collection;
    • Conduct research on emerging and established U.S. and international artists and on artworks at various price points and specific themes for various medical practices across the main Medical Center as well as the off-site facilities throughout the tri-state area;
    • Assist to oversee the Art Program conservation program by performing regular inspection, conservation treatment, and preservation on the artworks of the NYU Langone Art Collection throughout all Medical Center sites and facilities, including 2D and 3D artworks. In addition, assists with the procurement of art conservators to maintain the collection;
    • Assist the Art Manager in researching, procuring, and installing large-scale public art commissions and installations on the NYU Langone Health campus and off-sites
    • Manage and oversee the Art Collection inventory database of over 2,000 artworks, including works on paper, painting, wall mural installations, and large-scale sculptural installations using art management software;
    • Assist in the management of the Art Program budget expenditures, including project budgets, purchase documentations, risk management records, donation and consignment records;
    • Manage the coordination with artists, galleries, art institutions, NYU Langone in-house facilities, and all outside art vendors including photographers, framers, and art handlers for the purchase, install, repair, and preservation of the NYU Langone Art Collection;
    • Assist in the management of the NYU Langone Art Gallery, a rotating exhibition space open to the public 24/7. Duties include research, assist with curation, coordinating with the participating artists and artworks, and guest speakers, managing exhibition schedule and costs, installation logistics, special events coordination;
    • Design the exhibition graphics for the NYU Langone Art Gallery exhibitions and manages the coordination with the NYU Langone Print Shop for the printing, display, and distribution of exhibition materials;
    • Manage the communication with NYU Langone IT team and the NYU main campus events team, updates the Art Program website and NYULH Event Calendar and distributes invitations and press regarding the gallery shows.

     

     

    Key Competencies: • Strong organizational skills and an ability to work on multiple projects; • Advanced aesthetic sensibility; • Keen attention to detail and accuracy; • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both written and verbal.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Art History or Fine Art or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture;
    • Master’s Degree in Arts Administration or Art History preferred;
    • Healthcare Art Management experience preferred;
    • Knowledge and understanding of the international art market required;
    • Knowledge of conservation, installation, art handling, and curating of artwork required;
    • Expertise in Adobe Design Suite, Art Management software, and Mac and PC software required.
