    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Engineer.

    In this role, the Lead Engineer (Enterprise Data Protection) is responsible for ensuring that the backup environments are kept up to date with the latest software and security updates, utilizing automation technology and collaborating throughout IT organization. This individual must have a strong and broad technical background that encompasses cloud automation, operating system engineering and administration, software development principles and techniques, network protocols, information security, and database systems.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Automating, configuring, monitoring, administering, and maintaining backup environment including backup servers, backup storage, servers, network configuration and clients
    * Automating regular standard and test restores of VMs, files, folders, databases, and bare metal restores
    * Designing and implementing an automation framework for all aspects of the application lifecycle, within and without of the backup environment as needed, including build, test, and deployment
    * Collaborate with other departments to design and implement a Ransomware response capability, with an emphasis on Automation, particularly with Ansible
    * Work with APIs and build APIs to automate tasks such as backup/server/VM inventory, decommissioning, deployment, etc.
    * Performing operations tasks such as monitoring backup/restore performance over time and troubleshooting issues with production applications
    * Monitoring network, compute, and storage performance to ensure that the platform can handle increased traffic from new applications or services
    * Designing, building, and maintaining the systems underlying NYULH application platforms
    * Developing Cyber-security standards, incorporating security into solutions from inception, and ensuring maintenance of security throughout the lifecycle of the Backup environment 
    * Staying up to date on the latest technologies and trends, and producing solutions to NYULH problems, as well as identifying potential disruptive technologies 
    * Developing new technologies to support existing technologies or creating new technologies using new technologies
    * Designing, deploying, and maintaining virtualized solutions, within a context of SDDC, and a hybrid multi-cloud strategy, with an emphasis on virtualization and DevOps methodologies
    * Participating in meetings with executives to discuss technical issues and propose solutions
    * Reviewing code written by other engineers to ensure it meets standards for quality, security, and performance
    * Collaborating with other members of the engineering team to design new features or improve existing ones
    * Consuming and analyzing large amounts of data in order to identify patterns and make predictions about future trends
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in a related field (Computer Science preferred)
    5+ years of relevant experience, including experience with Windows and VMware in medium to large environments, experience with PowerShell/Ansible.
    Including 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with a significant amount of time spent working with APIs, within a virtualized infrastructure environment

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience within a healthcare environment is preferred
    5+ years with vROPs, vRA/vRO, SRM
    5+ years experience with Windows Operating Systems (2016 and above)
    5+ years experience with Cisco UCS, Dell server hardware

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,479.19 - $141,773.81 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
