Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director of Enterprise Communications.
For this role, NYULH is seeking an experienced Editor in Chief (Associate Director) to join the Institutional Communications team. This leadership role will guide strategies for institutional communications and thought leadership, lead a team focused on connecting with internal audiences to promote NYULHs reputation, increase employee engagement, and deepen relationships with the institution.
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Communications, this position will serve as a strategic thought partner to optimize and transform Inside Health, NYULHs intranet, to a comprehensive, thought-provoking, and informative site that delivers a stellar employee experience. This position will drive the continuous improvement of Inside Health to reflect employees ways of working while driving awareness of institutional priorities and updates.
Job Responsibilities:
Institutional Communications:
* Develop content and strategy for Inside Health that connects employees to the institution
* Establish standards for Inside Health’s layout, design, style, and voice to drive a consistent user/employee experience
* Oversee process to analyze stakeholder interactions with the site and provide guidance for content that will meet their needs while maximizing impact and engagement
* Draft editorial pieces that provide nuanced opinions on the latest institutional updates and generate thoughtful employee engagement
* Approve all publications and communications to curate the optimal set of editorial pieces, articles, photographs, and key institutional updates while ensuring adherence to established standards
* Define and incorporate audience-specific channel and engagement strategies to optimize communications that inform and inspire internal audiences
* Establish a strategy for departmental-specific sites to drive consistency and brand standardization for an optimal user experience
* Maintain standardized processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across all communications
* Ensure seamless communication alignment within a complex institution encompassing multiple campuses and geographic regions
Collaboration and Influence:
* Plan and execute institution-wide communications for Inside Health in coordination with key groups including executive leadership, department heads, and teams in Brand, Experience, Creative, & Design COE, Content Strategy & Development COE, Media Relations COE, Program Measurement & Business Operations Platform, and Enterprise Communications COE
* Partner with the Institutional Communications Lead to define the strategy to evaluate and enhance Inside Health, as well as determine customized strategies for select audiences
* Develop and maintain an editorial calendar for Inside Health, ensuring timely and relevant content updates
* Frame content in a way that evokes inspiration, captivates stakeholders, and increases brand reputation by sharing NYULH’s trailblazing endeavors
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the Director of Institutional Communications by discerning priorities and communication requisites while proactively identifying new ways for communications to drive institutional objectives and enhance employee experience
Operational Excellence:
* Define, monitor, and adhere to key metrics and outcomes to gauge the effectiveness of the communications strategy
* Elevate the quality of communications to guarantee they meet or exceed established standards
* Collect and cascade feedback on the Inside Health experience to continuously improve the usability and employee experience
People Management:
* Guide the team on how work gets done, set priorities, and ensure standards are understood and adhered to
* Ensure clarity for the vision of the team to help them understand their role in the overall strategy of the institution
* Champion NYULH’s strong culture of continuous improvement to deploy scalable, simplified, and standardized processes
Financial Management:
* Support development of budgets and operational forecasts for Institutional Communications specific to Inside Health, working with the Chief of Staff
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a 8+ years of experience leading an institutional communications function in a highly regulated industry, specifically an institutional or academic medical center setting
2+ years of experience managing and leading effective teams
Accomplished writer, editor, and communicator; guides others with the authority to influence both individuals and outcomes
Experience creating and managing thought leadership content
Adept at building rapport and exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, with an established track record of cultivating relationships with executive leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possesses a growth mindset and willingness to use a test-and-learn approach
Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment
Bachelors degree in communications or related field required
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous editor in chief experience

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,479.19 - $173,552.25 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
