    POSITION SUMMARY:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Grants Manager.

    Reporting to the Program Director for Research, the Grants Manager manages the pre-and post-award of grants and contracts for 1 or 2 divisions in the DOM. (S)he will be responsible for accurate grant and budget submissions, reporting, and assist with projections and compliance. (S)He will serve as principal source of information on grant policies and procedures including federal funding regulations, and advises faculty.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Works with the Principal Investigator, Department of Medicine Program Director for Research and CTSI Administrator to ensure all the sponsored project activities are managed appropriately and to ensure timely and accurate reporting.Generates and tracks site and study-level payments; responds to site and vendor queries concerning payments; processes, generates and tracks expense reimbursements.Reviews and approves all purchasing and payable requests for payment in excess of $1,000; researches and reports any disparities reported on general ledger to ensure accurate budget, budget period, project period, facilities and administration rate, recording of expenditure and income information; prepares financial analyses, forecasts, projections, plans, and profit and loss statements.Serves as a resource to the Coordinating Center Investigators in grant, contract, and clinical trial budget development according to sponsor and NYUSOM guidelines.Reviews and analyzes all assigned monthly financial statements and monitor the ongoing activities in order to verify their accuracy and compliance with NYULMC policies and procedures; develops overall budget projection analysis for review with PI and CTSI Administrator; tracks actual project spending against planned project spending.
    • Works closely with Coordinating Center leadership to track and monitor all monthly expenses on trial budget portfolio. Raise, resolve or escalate any concerns that arise.Responds to requests from Coordinating Center and NYUSOM leadership related to all FSR and other financial reporting requirements.Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Works closely with CTSI Administrator and Department of Medicine Program Director for Research for all aspects post-award fiscal and administrative management of awards including progress reports to NIH; subcontractor monitoring; staff salary allocations and requests for carryover, no cost extensions and reductions in effort. Ensure spending on awards is appropriate, within budget and allowable per funding entity guidelines. Submit re-budgets as appropriate.Negotiates clinical site clinical vendor budgets; keeping in mind overall trial budget. Develops and operationalizes negotiating strategies and develops creative solutions to budgetary issues.Maintains strong relationships with participating clinical centers, NYUSOM departments, Coordinating Center faculty and staff, and trial vendors.Ensures regular communication with CTSI Research Administrator, Department of Medicine Program Director for Research, Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA), Institutional Review Board (IRB), and OSR.Exercise good judgment, based on gathering and analyzing, factual and objective data; interprets policies/procedures in order to make sound independent decisions.

     

    ADDITIONAL POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of policies and procedures to ensure that research practices are in accordance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Demonstrated knowledge of managing large NIH grant budget including management of subcontract and vendor contracts. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to interact effectively with diverse internal and external professional groups and sponsors. Candidate must have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a self-starter

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in Business, Health Administration or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an academic medical center, in government or other significant health-related non-profit; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Masters preferred

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $105,344.33 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
