Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director - Planned Giving.
In this role, the successful candidate will conceive, plan and implement all planned giving programs for NYU Langone Health. The Senior Director's role includes identifying and responding to requests from prospective and current donors with an interest in including the institution in their financial and/or estate plans via bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, IRA distributions, retirement plans or insurance policies. The incumbent will have technical knowledge of the various planned giving vehicles, as well as the capacity to discuss them with potential donors and their professional advisors to effectively negotiate and secure gifts, ensuring all gifts are appropriately administered. The Senior Director of Planned Giving also will be a resource to Development colleagues, providing periodic individual and group training on gift planning related topics, strategic counsel on strong prospects within portfolios, and effective talking points for successful gift conversations.
The Senior Director leads a planned giving staff driving performance with established best practices and performance metrics. They will provide expertise and share knowledge of giving vehicles and planned giving strategies with the team. In addition, they will be held accountable for an individual fundraising goal and the teams goal.
The Senior Director in collaboration with Development Marketing, will select and engage with a third-party vendor to ensure marketing materials align with topical issues we wish to communicate with our planned giving prospects and our John Revere Society donors. Finally, the Planned Giving Team will plan and execute regular events for the John Revere Society to steward current planned gift donors and maintain their strong connections to NYULH.
Job Responsibilities:
* Maintain a portfolio of prospects for cultivation and solicitation, and of current planned gift donors for stewardship. Drive performance to achieve both the team’s fundraising goal as well as an individual fundraising goal.
* Provide periodic individual and group planned giving training.
* Consult with Development leadership and gift officer colleagues to identify and develop solicitation strategies for potential planned giving prospects.
* Oversee administration of estates, trusts and other planned gifts.
* Keep abreast of trends in planned giving and design communications to take advantage of opportunities they create.
* Collaborate on outreach plan with Development Marketing team to tailor to NYULH constituencies utilizing various media with the goal of educating them on the benefits of financial and estate planning.
* Use TRAX donor database and Planned Giving module to maintain up-to-date, comprehensive information on planned giving prospects, donors and interactions.
* Plan stewardship and cultivation events for John Revere Society.
* Manages team member(s) including gift officer(s)
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree and 10 - 14+ years of relevant experience, including 5 years of management experience.
Expert knowledge of gift planning vehicles including: bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, retirement plans, IRA distributions and life insurance.
Experience with financial advisors, trust and estate attorneys, and knowledge of the probate court system.
Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with key leaders, high-level volunteers, board members and colleagues.
Maturity and expertise to work closely with individuals of wealth and a proven track record of soliciting and obtaining planned gifts.
Excellent writing, research, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, well organized, flexible and results-oriented.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure. Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Works strategically, collaboratively, respectfully, and professionally with colleagues across all divisions and teams within the department. Communicates clearly, shares, listens and recognizes others contributions.
Possesses the presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.

Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctor Degree is preferred and a minimum of 7 years experience in the planned giving field.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $201,393.92 - $287,706.12 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
