    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an MCIT Informatics Nurse Specialist.

     

    Position Summary:

    The MCIT Informatics Nurse Specialist shall act as a liaison between the nursing and other clinical ancillary operations across the NYU Langone Health System enterprise and the MCIT department. This includes the primary responsibility of determining the needs and requirements for clinical applications in acute and ambulatory healthcare settings. This position will also be engaged in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of clinical systems and technologies. The incumbent will work with staff and physicians to optimize the usage of clinical systems through education and training, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Participate in usability testing and verify updates, patches and new releases to the EHR and other clinical technologies prior to activation.
    • Maintain membership on or consultation to committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation and revision of the EHR.
    • Respond appropriately to requests and concerns from users affected by the system.
    • Participate in system analysis and research related to the EHR and other clinical technologies.
    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, national and state-wide standards and regulations, enterprise policies and procedures as related to clinical practice and the legal implications of the EHR and other clinical technologies.
    • Participate in presentations and publications about the EHR and clinical technology at conferences and in journals as appropriate. Attend conferences and seminars as appropriate.
    • Maintain membership in organizations that enhance professional growth, including but not limited to HIMSS, ANIA, AMIA and professional nursing organizations.
    • Collaborate with clinical systems directors and managers in evaluation of development efforts in planning pilot and full implementations of new EHR features, new clinical technologies, and in processing user feedback requests.
    • Other duties as aligned with the mission and goals of the organization.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

     

    • Must have a Masters Degree in nursing with an emphasis in nursing informatics or healthcare informatics.
    • NYS RN license.
    • At least 3 years of recent relevant clinical experience.
    • Prior experience working with a clinical information system and other clinical technologies.

     

    Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

    • Board certification preferred - ANCC or CPHIMS.
