    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Speech Language Pathologist, Staff II Level (Hospital).

    In this role, the successful candidate provides speech-language pathology services and any other duties deemed necessary by department Manager.

    Job Responsibilities:

      * Utilizes age appropriate assessments and measures. Administers and interprets standardized and non-standardized assessments as required in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Conducts thorough review of the patient’s medical chart. 
      * Develops, evaluates and plans speech-language pathology treatment programs based on patient’s age, diagnosis, and current functional status in accordance with the established plan of care. Demonstrates effective clinical decision making skills and implements changes/adaptations to the treatment plan as indicated. Anticipates and plans for discharge. 
      * Demonstrates thorough patient/family interviewing techniques to determine functional communication, establish patients understanding of SLP goals for treatment, recovery expectations and desire for SLP treatment. Participates in patient care conferences with multidisciplinary team members. 
      * Completes concise, accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental policy utilizing approved medical terminology. Maintains the security of all patient files and keeps all patient information confidential. Follows insurance guidelines and utilizes appropriate charges for documentation and reimbursement. 
      * Mentors graduate student clinicians as per ASHA, NYS and College/University guidelines. Maintains a positive learning environment while providing constructive feedback and transitioning students to increasing levels of competence. 
      * Mentor for clinical skill and knowledge acquisition for new staff members.
      * Active participant in departmental staff meetings, huddles, educational in-services and staff training.
      * Assists departmental leadership with performance improvement initiatives.
      * Responsible for meeting patient care productivity expectation based on departmental reporting. 
      * Actively keeps abreast of and uses current trends and research based evidence in speech language pathology. Maintains and continues to build upon professional competency through education and annual review. 
    

    Performs other duties as assigned

    Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
    Primarily neonatal and pediatric caseload. Potential for adult patient population coverage. Potential rotating holiday and weekend coverage.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify, you must have a Master's Degree Speech-Language Pathology; CCC-SLP from ASHA and NYS license in Speech Pathology. Adherence to continuing education requirements to maintain NYS licensure and ASHA certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Minimum of 2-5 years licensed experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting. Strong communication (both oral and written), counseling, customer service, problem-solving, planning, organization, and multitasking skills. Willingness to adhere to flexible work schedule.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Clinical acute care experience with neonate and pediatric populations.
    Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBS) and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing with Sensory (FEES).
    Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $93,194.00 - $112,985.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
