    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Spclst, Systems Qual-Pathology. In this role, the successful candidate works with the Quality System Manager on laboratory quality initiatives including regulatory and organizational mandates. Monitors the ongoing proficiency testing program. Works with each of the section heads to ensure the accuracy and integrity of their plan including data capture and reporting and reports their findings to the QA Manager. Collects and reports to the QA Manager the monthly Quality Improvement Advisory Council (QIAC) metrics. Reviews with the QA Manager the effectiveness of the department's quality related policies and procedures and helps identifies educational opportunities for staff.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares and participates in all inspections, Internal or External- College of American Pathologists (CAP) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).
    • Monitors compliance of College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulations and NYSDOH Standards of Practice.
    • Works with section heads in data collection and reporting. Interfaces with all departments throughout the institution, as well as external parties/agencies on Quality Management data, reports and information systems. Ensures data is completed and reported in a timely manner.
    • Monitors Proficiency Testing compliance and maintains Corrective Action records.
    • Updates and maintains departmental Quality Management Plan.
    • Attends Quality Management meetings, creates meeting minutes and maintains documentation.
    • Identifies educational opportunities and ensures staff competency documentation.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree In any discipline. 1-2 years of experience in medical office/hospital setting. Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, customer service, organization, and multitasking skills Required. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) Required. Knowledge of Quality Principles Required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Anatomic Pathology experience preferrredBachelor's Degree In clinical laboratory technology program or in biology, chemistry, or the physical sciences or equivalent preferred. New York State clinical laboratory technologist license. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC). 3-5 Years of Laboratory Technologist experience. 3-5 Years of Quality system related experience.
