    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director - Nursing Administration.

    In this role, the successful candidate In conjunction with the VP of Nursing and Patient Care Svcs, the Sr Dir of Nursing is responsible for providing the overall leadership, direction, and coordination for the areas of assigned responsibility in concert with the organizational Mission, Vision, Values, Goals, and Objectives. Displays compliance in the six core healthcare competencies of interdisciplinary team work, quality improvement, evidence based practice, patient focused care, informatics, and the ANA leadership standards. Working collaboratively with the VP of Nursing and Patient Care Svcs, creates a culture of service excellence and is responsible for establishing the professional practice environment and systems, and providing the resources to support the delivery of quality patient care. Assumes responsibility for Administration of the Department of Nursing in the absence of the VP of Nursing and Patient Care Svcs on selected medical staff and Hospital committees. An active member of the Hospitals Senior Leadership Team and a role model for Professional Practice and Development.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Leadership/Professional Practice:1. Assumes responsibility for administration of the Department of Nursing in the absence of the VP of Nursing and Patient Care Svcs.2. Assumes administrative on-call responsibility.3. A lifelong learner who assumes responsibility for own professional growth and maintains knowledge of current professional practice in nursing leadership.4. Systems thinker, creating new vision after thorough analysis of organization/unit needs, evidence and external environment.5. Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable.6. Promotes a positive view of nursing, leadership, and NYULH-LI campus, building networks of influence internally and externally.7. Serves as a coach and mentor, willing to teach and be taught.
    * Quality/Patient Focused Care:1. Demonstrates service excellence in all work, always putting patient care first.2. Supports the development and implementation of organization wide patient safety and quality programs.3. Assists direct reports with continuous quality improvement and risk management utilizing appropriate quality metrics and organizational, regional, and national standards.
    * Informative/Business Skills:1. Works collaboratively with Human Resources and Nursing Prof. Development to continuously evaluate and improve the orientation, continuing education, and leadership development programs.2. Facilities key councils/committees3. Assists in recruitment and retention efforts. Interviews candidates for positions as requested.4. Develops, implements, and manages operational and capital budgets.5. Knowledgeable in effective application of informatics resources for patient care, processes, and data.
    * Evidence Based Practice/Knowledge of the Healthcare Environment:1. Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing practice ensuring compliance with standards of care and practice, New York State Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics, State/Federal regulations and Professional Associations.2. Actively participates as a member of the Department of Nursing and Hospital Leadership in the strategic planning efforts to establish and manage operational goals and objectives.3. Assists the directors/managers for whom he/she has line responsibility in the development of departmental goals and objectives. Collaborates in establishing priorities and plans for implementation. Monitors progress and holds directors/managers accountable for accomplishment of the goals in the agreed time frames.4. Assists the directors/managers to evaluate the evidence based/best practices and service as change agent assuring appropriate patient care delivery systems, models of care, and work flows.5. Understands and applies knowledge of healthcare economies and policy, participates in political legislation when applicable.6. Assists the directors/managers in assuring that patient care is delivered utilizing an appropriate model of care delivery for the patient population. Assures all care providers practice in roles as allowed by the State Practice Act and for which they have been educated and trained and that applicable Department of Health (DOH) and the Joint Commission (TJC) standards are met.7. Serves as a resource to those with line management responsibility in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of new programs utilizing evidence based and best practices. Conducts the necessary research for such program development utilizing current literature, site visits, and other appropriate resources.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in nursing required. Masters degree in Nursing or graduate level degree in relevant field of management, policy, or administration required.
    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
    1. Comprehensive knowledge of Nursing Science and Nursing Administration, strong leadership skills, a commitment to patient care, customer service and an understanding of current issues and trends facing the healthcare industry.
    2. A career track of progressive and increasingly complex nurse management roles and experiences earned within a complex acute hospital or academic medical center with a minimum of 5 years at a senior level nursing/managerial level.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
    2. Active membership in professional associations preferred.
    3. ANCC Nurse Executive board certification preferred.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $148,999.50 - $248,332.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
