    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Developer II Solutions Development - NYU Long Island School of Medicine. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for contributing to the work of building and enhancing the technologies that support of the education mission of NYU Long Island School of Medicine. Collaborates with the solutions development team with building and refining systems, software and user experience within the Institute for Innovations in Medical Education and Instructional Design and Innovation Center.


    • Understands the work processes of assigned business areas. Collect user requirements and translates them into well-engineered, tested, and deployed education application systems.
    • Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, installation, and maintenance of information. Receives general direction, work in progress is reviewed routinely. Works closely with Director of Educational Informatics, team members and organizational partners to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.
    • Participates in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and/or supporting application software for the education mission.
    • Participates in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy-versus-build recommendations. Participates in systems analysis and design using development, quality assurance and integration methodologies. Chooses the appropriate approach of procedure to address a work task. Meets project deadlines.
    • Aligns business and IT strategies, and complies with MCITs architectural standards. Makes recommendations towards the development of new code, tools and products or reuse of existing systems. Identifies ideas to improve system performance. Analyzes a chain of events and applies technical knowledge following established procedures and/or detailed specifications.
    • Troubleshoots problems in their area of expertise. Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
    • Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field. 2 - 5 Experience using RESTful web services, Git, Jira, stack or other comparable technology to develop applications. Solid fundamental understanding of software development best practices; Ability to support multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritize work to meet and/or exceed established service levels. Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree. Knowledge of SQL (MySQL, Oracle); Experience with continuous integration and test-driven development; Familiar with Agile software development practices; Strong data modeling skills; Knowledge of Linux and basic shell scripting; Knowledge of Node.js, React, Django and Nginx a plus.
