    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant in our Float Pool. In this role, the successful candidate assists in the delivery of primary Health care and patient care management. Performs routine phlebotomy via venipuncture or finger stick and specimen collection. Complies with established policies and procedures, rules and regulations to the practice,Hospital, federal, state and local regulations. Diligent in observing all HIPAA guidelines. Travels to other office locations as required.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists in delivery of primary health care and patient care management. Greets and escorts patients into the exam room. Verifies that patients have signed in and retrieves patient chart. Assists in a variety of treatments and medications under supervision of physician. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. Prepares patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs, review meds and chief complaints. Prepares exam rooms and equipment for physicians.
    • Provides quality patient care, including examination, diagnostic, medical equipment and instruments. Screens and triages patient telephone calls for referral to physician, as appropriate.
    • Performs various procedures/tests consistent with those of a medical assistant working in this practice. (i.e routine phlebotomy via venipuncture or finger stick and specimen collection, holter monitors, EKG, glucose testing, vital signs and patient histories.), Collects, labels and processes all specimens and ensures they are forwarded to the correct laboratory.
    • Performs various clerical duties in a timely and accurate manner. Answers telephone and provides front desk support including scheduling appointments, obtaining referrals and copayment. Obtains test results from hospitals, laboratories, radiologists, doctor office etc. as requested. Provides copies of educational material to patients. Retrieves and files charts. Maintains patient files, records and other information, as needed. Mails reports and completed forms if necessary. Complies with HIPAA guidelines. Attends staff meetings as requested by the Practice Manager. Orders and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment.
    • Assists with patient care treatments utilizing aseptic techniques as per policy and procedures.
    • Follows the directives of the physician in an efficient and precise manner. Handles multiple tasks at one time, often switching from one to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Maintains quality control standards.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GED.

    Current and valid Driver's license.

    2 years relevant experience (Minimum 6 months).

    Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal, multitasking, and customer service skills.

    Basic math and computer skills including Microsoft Office.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Other Graduate from a Medical Assistant program.

    Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

    1-2 years Medical Assistant Program experience.

    Knowledge of medical terminology.
