    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Officer II.

    In this role, the successful candidate Patrol Hospital buildings and grounds. Hold post on an assigned shift protecting patients, visitors, volunteers, employees, and property. Respond to Hospital emergencies and provide staff support on access control and special activities as required.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Performs other duties as assigned
    * Greets patients, visitors, and employees and responds to inquiries in a courteous and prompt manner. Identify self by name clearly and concisely, if requested. Provide directions to visitors as needed. Refer matters outside the scope of own duties to appropriate other, keeping patients and others informed as needed.
    * Protect and safeguard various hospital properties and installations, as assigned. Patrol surrounding areas to ensure orderliness of environment i.e. lock and/or open doors, secure restricted areas, check fire hoses, stairwells, etc. in accordance with procedure. Operate and/or monitor various security systems (alarms, TV surveillance, access control, digital recording, photo processing, CCTV). Maintains the Identification Card system and distribution process, updating existing employee access levels. Provide security escorts as directed (i.e. safe corridor to parking garages).
    * Observe visitors to hospital, answer questions, and investigate reported losses, suspicious and/or unusual situations in a courteous efficient manner. Escort unruly or unauthorized personnel from hospital premises in a tactful and professional manner. May require restraining skills to appropriately subdue violators and/or emotionally disturbed individuals. Prepare and submit appropriate incident reports to supervisor.
    * Explain hospital security policies and procedures to visitors, staff, etc., as necessary. Assist other departments in controlling visitor traffic as required. Maintain hospital package control policy in accordance with established procedure.
    * Respond promptly to fire alarms, and other emergencies using established communication system in accordance with established procedure. Unlock doors, direct immediate and affected population to a safe area, assist fire brigade or appropriate other in a timely and efficient manner.
    * Detain law violators and represent the hospital in legal cases as necessary. May be required to testify as complainant for the hospital on related cases. Prepares appropriate legal documents on such cases. Direct traffic, guard celebrities, and police official ceremonies, etc. as assigned. May drive hospital vehicles.
    * Maintains daily security reports (security, accident, packages pass, lost and found). Collects and inputs statistics to system. Assists in training hospital personnel and updates supervisors and peers on recent developments.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent.
    1-2 years Law enforcement operations (from an Accredited Law Enforcement Academy).
    Current and valid NYS Security Guard License.
    Current and valid NYS Driver's License.
    Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification (Must be obtained within 90 days of Hire date).
    Current and valid Crisis Prevention/Intervention (CPI) certification (Must be obtained within 90 days of Hire date).
    Strong communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills..

    Required Licenses: Security Guard Reg-NYS, Driver's License

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Some College. 1-2 years Safety or security operations in a Hospital or Healthcare environment. Basic computer skills including MS Office.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62,522.53 - $65,063.27 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
