    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Concierge- Emergency Department. In this role, the successful candidate greets patients and visitors and serves as a patient concierge for Emergency Department (ED) patients upon arrival and during their ED stay. Provides operational support to the ED. Collaborates with ED staff to improve patient flow, keep patients informed of wait times and delays, and assist in making the waiting room environment more patient friendly and accommodating. The Concierge demonstrates excellent customer service skills and fosters a positive patient experience. Works collaboratively with ED staff, Security, Transport services, Ambulance personnel, Valet services, Patient Relations, Nutrition Department, Pastoral Care and other departments as needed.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Meet and greet patients and visitors in a polite manner. Provides direction to WUH locations. Provides patient information as requested. Answers and screens calls promptly and courteously. Maintains a neat appearance of waiting reception areas in the Emergency Department. Identifies patient safety risks in the waiting areas and intervenes to correct or escalates for assistance.
    • Identifies self by name and title. Answers telephone calls courteously and directs calls appropriately. Takes messages accurately and forwards the information appropriately. Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
    • Provides support in ED waiting and reception areas as needed. Assists with updating patients and visitors as to expected wait times or delays. Maintains ongoing communication with patients and families in the waiting areas. Assists in the Main ED areas as well. Offers assistance to patients and visitors as needed. Escalates patient concerns to nursing leadership. Assists visitors in locating patients in the ED.
    • Observe departmental and hospital policies regarding attendance, professional conduct and appearance. Attends required in-services.
    • Accommodates needs of patients and visitors. Provides wheelchairs when requested. Transport or arrange for transport of patients to designation. Obtain taxis or chair cars for patients as directed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Excellent communication (both oral and written), customer service skills. Good computer skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1 - 2 years Medical environment or customer service environment. Bilingual Spanish Speaking.
