    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiology Technologist. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates Radiology equipment to produce quality images as ordered/according to department protocols. Produces quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
    • Prepares patient for exam using proper positioning/immobilization, and giving proper instructions throughout.
    • Practices effective radiation protection in utilizing appropriate shielding devices when possible. Monitors exposure and follows department policy regarding pregnant patients.
    • Proper and timely utilization of the PACs system allowing for Radiologist interpretation. Verifies all images are transferred to PACs in a timely matter.
    • Accurate utilization of the Radiology Information Systems. Verifies proper exam was completed, amount of contrast (if used) is correct, and proper code is attached. Arrives and completes procedures in a timely fashion.
    • Assists in the care and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and supplies while abiding by WUH infection control policy and procedure. Maintains proper environment of care. Follows WUH infection control policy and procedure. Initiates Standard Precautions when required.
    • Instructs and supervises Radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with Radiography students in completing exams. Performs QA image review with students.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma or GED required. Technical Diploma, Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services Required. Current New York State Radiologic technician license OR New Graduate with temporary Permit. Must become registered before expiration of temporary permit required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required within 6 month of hire. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills Required. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office required. Thorough knowledge of Radiography equipment required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1-2 years of Radiologic Technology experience preferred.
