    The Advanced Center for Surgery is a busy, multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Vero Beach, performing outpatient procedures in Orthopedics and Neurology.     We are currently searching for a Full time Per Diem Front Desk Receptionist to join our team.

    Job Summary:

    The Front Desk/Scheduler interfaces with patients and families, physicians and staff; Enters scheduled procedures in the system; Admits patients and processes their paperwork; Updates patient demographics/information in system; Collect monies due and documents such in the billing system; Handles funds per office procedures; Answers incoming phone calls.

    Plans and schedules procedures for the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Schedule procedures/surgeries, and coordinates between Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
    • Gathers all detailed information for the patient's chart, such as type of procedure, supplies, special equipment required, insurance information, etc. Enters all patient information in computer system.
    • Confers with OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and /or Administrator/Clinical Director to determine status of scheduled surgeries. Alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
    • Provides relief for the front business office, Receptionist and all other business functions, as needed.
    • Crossed trained to fill in and effectively perform all other job descriptions
    • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patient/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
    • Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
    • Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance participate in emergency preparedness drills.
    • Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care for all business equipment.

    • High School graduate Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum 1 years Outpatient or hospital Front Desk Scheduler experience.
    • Knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards
    • Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand.
    • Show a genuine desire to work and improve the center as a whole.
    • Must be detail oriented.
    • Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner.
    • Must be able to adhere to hospital financial and admitting policies.
    • Ability to promote positive relationships with patients and staff.
    • Must know insurance verification and collection processes.
    • Must have problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Professional appearance.
    • Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
