    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dental Assistant - Dentistry Department, Garden City location.

    In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing optimal oral care for patients, including but not restricted to diagnostic images, assisting Dental Providers in all procedures, sterilization of instruments, secretarial and other dental clinic related duties. Provides service consistent with 's commitment to provide high quality, safe, culturally competent, and comprehensive health care services based on a profound commitment to an enduring guiding principle.     Job Responsibilities:

    * Responsible for all methods of sterilization, decontamination, scrubbing, packing, sterilizing and consistent spore testing with every sterilization cycle, log spore biological monitors.
    * Performs other duties as assigned
    * Provides chair side, and clinical assistance. Takes X-Rays as needed to include: expose periapical, bitewing and panorex images of diagnostic quality; perform four handed dentistry.
    * Successfully complete ten hours of continuing education in central Service Technician duties annually to remain in this employment status.
    * Logs oxygen tanks maintenance, eye wash units, suite maintenance and lab case management.
    * Maintains inventory level in supply closets and exam rooms, instrument drawers, bins, prosthetic room and supply expiration dates.
    * Mixes and delivers material during treatment; demonstrates and understands procedures and sequential steps.
    * Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Prepares tray set-ups for dental procedures.
    * Performs laboratory tasks. Pours up quality study models that exhibit good anatomical detail. Runs suction cleaner through the operatory HVE and saliva ejector tubings, cleans out delivery unit traps or replace if necessary. Self-contained water bottle system maintenance, flush handpiece tubings, airwater syringes, ultrasonic scalers, and air polishers to eliminate buildup of unnecessary biofilm.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify, you must possess the following:

    High School or GED, required.
    Current NYS Dental Assistant license within two (2) years of hire, required (Hired on or after 01/01/14) OR Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within two (2) years of hire, required OR
    Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within two (2) years of Hire (Hired on or after 01/01/14), required.
    3-5 years Dental Assisting experience, required. Excellent communication (both oral and written), detail-oriented, organizational and, analytical skills, required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel, required.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    1-2 years Article 28 Dental Assisting experience, preferred

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52,127.07 - $60,206.57 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
