    POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Administrative Director in Pathology. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine goals of providing quality service to customers. Integrates and coordinates the functions and services of testing performance to meet necessary delivery of laboratory data to physicians andHealth care providers. Assures compliance with regulatory affairs agencies.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversees the management of anatomic pathology which includes the grossing rooms, frozen section rooms, anatomic office, courier services, morgue, histology, immunohistochemistry, cytology and clinical internship programs for clinical laboratory students functioning as advisor for the NAACLS and SED programs.
    • Provide oversight for both Clinical Pathology (CP) and Anatomic Pathology (AP) Laboratory Information System functionality.
    • Assist the Administrative Director to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, NY State Dept. of Health (NYSDOH), College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Food and Drug Administration, (FDA), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), Occupations Safety Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), NY State Dept. of Education (SED) guidelines. Ensures that the institution meets all regulatory requirements relevant to quality and patient safety.
    • In the absence of the Administrative Director assumes responsibilities for Administration and effectively plans and assumes a leadership role in laboratory service issues and initiative which includes budgetpayroll processes.
    • Participates in departmental and institutional performance improvement activities that impact patient care services. Ensures that processes are in place, to adequately monitor and ensure the validity of laboratory data.
    • Participates in the recruitment, orientation and development of staff. Performs annual employee job performance reviews. Participates in counseling and disciplinary actions of employees.
    • Works collaboratively within the organization to promote positive patient outcomes and quality care. Builds and maintains effective relationships with physicians, other members of management and employees.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have Clinical Laboratory Experience in a Hospital or Reference Lab. Supervisory or management level. Strong communication (both oral and written), counseling, customer service, problem-solving, planning organization, and multitasking skills. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel. Ability to work independently, interact and maintain functional relationships with personnel at all levels within and outside the organization.  REQUIRED LICENSES: NYS Dept. of Education License, Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Healthcare Administration,Hospital Administration or Business Administration or related field.  Professional Certifications:  American Association of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

    Required Skills Required Experience
