    Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is seeking a PreOp Registered Nurse to join our team!!

    Under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, Clinical Nurse Manager and Team Coordinator / Charge Nurse, the nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality nursing care for al patients, with continual evaluation of the patients' condition, providing patient safety comfort, and privacy at all times for Baylor Scott &White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott &White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth Outpatient Center.

    Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is a joint venture with Tenet Healthcare and USPI. We are 30-bed acute care surgical hospital located at 1800 Park Place Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas, that has been serving the residents of Fort Worth and the surrounding communities since 2014.

    The hospital provides a wide spectrum of medical services including an Emergency Department, a 30-bed inpatient unit, a 4-bed intensive care unit, a diagnostic imaging unit, 14 operating rooms, including the da Vinci, ExcelsiusGPS, and Mako Surgical Systems. The surgical services Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth provides include, but are not limited to, Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT), Bariatric, General, Pulmonary, Gynecology, Oral, Orthopedics, Orthopedic Spine Surgery, Pain Management, Plastics, Podiatry, Spine, and Urology. We focus on providing a quality, service-oriented environment for all surgical procedures.

    Required Skills

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Delivers indirect and direct patient care according to established standards, taking into consideration the age and risk factors of the patient.

    • Acts as a patient advocate in meeting his/her physical and psychological needs.

    • Performs patient assessment and reassessment immediately upon admission and on a regular basis in accordance with standards of care with documentation of these assessments as a basis for planning each patient's care.

    • Ensures that all nursing interventions and patients' responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated and that all components of the nursing process are documented in accordance with standards of practice.

    • Takes emergency call as assigned.

    • Understand practices and ensures sterile technique.

    • Integrates and coordinates care across settings and among disciplines.

    • Implements physician's orders effectively and safely in accordance with standards of practice.

    • Utilizes special precautions in the direct care and in the supervision of care provided to sedated patients.

    • Provides appropriate information to nursing personnel regarding the patients' status on transfer.

    • Documents all records according to established policies and procedures.

    Required Experience

    Job Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BS preferred
    • Current Texas RN License
    • Current BLS, must obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire
    • Minimum one (1) year experience in a Medical / Surgical hospital setting or Pre Op Department
    • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of the patient
    • Demonstrates discretionary ability in establishing priority.
    • Uses nursing judgment in decision-making
    • Able to recognize and intervene in stressful situations and perform effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities.
