    Uses his/her clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.  With the patient and family central to the care, the RN incorporates the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the care delivery process.  The RN works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes.  The RN provides leadership to the team by orienting, mentoring and managing team members to assure that quality care is delivered with compassion, dignity and respect as well as efficiency.  The RN participates in unit/department/institutional performance improvement activities that impact patient/family and service outcomes based on professional practice standards.

    Emergency Response Nurse – ALERT Nurse Serves as an expert member of the: Adult Cardiopulmonary Arrest Team, Rapid Response Team, Stroke Team, Obstetric Hemorrhage Team, Maternal Hypertensive Crisis Team, Behavioral Emergency Response Team, Cool Team and as a clinical and educational resource for nursing staff. Provides care and education to patients and their families with medically complex diagnoses. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes. Leads initiatives with emphasis on nursing practice and clinical standards to maximize quality and patient safety while reporting to the nurse manager of the clinical alert team.

     

    EDUCATION: Diploma in Nursing or Associates Degree in Nursing required.  Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing strongly preferred.

     

    LICENSE: Current New York State Registered Nurse License

     

    CERTIFICATIONS:  Current BLS (American Heart Association), required.  ACLS, PALS and NRP preferred, but required after 1 year based on population served.  CCRN or CEN preferred

     

    EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 4 years in nursing practice; 2 or more years in Critical Care or Emergency (preferred).

     

    COMPETENCIES: Outstanding clinical skills; excellent communication skills, strong, effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships; teaching, teambuilding, and coaching skills; self-directed, and flexible. Physical –able to lift and run

     

    OTHER: CANDIDATES WHO ARE APPROVED FOR A SECOND ROUND OF INTERVIEW MUST ATTEND THE AUGUST 14TH OR OCT 8TH INTERVIEW SESSION TO MEET WITH THE MANAGEMENT STAFF.

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

    1. Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association.
    2. Current state registration/licensure, or limited permit as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
    3. Demonstrates professional behavior and appearance.
    4. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs and in-services as requested, which may require overnight travel.
    5. Ability to work on and comprehend computerized technology.
    6. Protects patients/residents and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
    7. Must be able to speak the English language in a comprehendible format.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Subject to lifting, carrying and supporting patients/residents.
    2. Must be able to lift medical equipment, supplies, etc.
    3. Must be able to move (walk, bend, stand, sit, push, pull, lift) intermittently throughout the workday.
    4. Must be constantly alert for patient/resident safety.
