    NGM Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical stage biotech company dedicated to discovering and developing the next generation of medicines for the treatment of serious diseases.  Our experienced scientific team has joined forces with an impressive group of industry professionals, Nobel Laureates and other distinguished researchers to form a company where innovation and cutting-edge science has provided the foundation for a robust drug discovery engine.  To date, NGM Bio has generated a pipeline of seven drug candidates in various stages of development targeting liver, metabolic and ophthalmic diseases and cancer. The most advanced drug candidate, NGM282, is in Phase 2b for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).  NGM’s strategic collaboration with Merck, which was extended to March 2022, will continue to provide us with the resources and flexibility to pursue our ambitious R&D goals and further extend our pipeline of novel drug candidates.

     

    Reporting to the President, the Head of Investor Relations (IR) will develop and execute the company’s IR program and drive the communications effort to effectively convey NGM’s strategy and positioning of the company’s deep and growing development pipeline.  The Head of IR will serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, President, CFO and other members of the executive team in guiding our capital markets strategy and ensuring that our IR plan supports maximizing the long-term value creation of NGM.  The ideal candidate is an experienced IR professional that is attracted to science-driven companies, can challenge ideas but be flexible, is proactive, creative and diligent and has high EQ.

     

    Required Skills

    • Develop, plan and execute an IR strategic plan, in partnership with the CEO, President and CFO, that ensures fair valuation of the company, supports the financing strategy and strengthens external stakeholders’ understanding of the company’s story and pipeline by communicating with an appropriate cadence
    • Identify key opportunities to refine and augment our investor and corporate communications and incorporate them into the company’s IR initiatives; key activities include development of corporate messaging and materials that are used internally and externally
    • Lead the company’s efforts to target, build and cultivate relationships with the buy-side and sell-side community and ensure that NGM’s story is communicated on a continuous and transparent basis that is compliant with corporate policies and securities regulations
    • Maintain a pulse on the industry and evolving competitive landscape for NGM’s development programs in order to more effectively anticipate investor concerns/questions and develop the company’s positioning and messaging
    • Become integrated with the R&D team and have a direct line on scientific progress and clinical updates that will inform IR and communications planning
    • Partner closely with Finance, Legal and other departments to ensure accurate and appropriate materials for financial reporting, investor roadshows, analyst updates/events, conferences,
    • Lead the planning and execution of investor and analyst events
    • Serve as the company’s liaison to institutional investors and analysts; provide timely, accurate and consistent responses to inquiries

    Required Experience

    • BA/BS required; an advanced degree (g., MBA/Ph.D./M.D.) strongly preferred
    • At least 10 years of experience as an IR professional or in finance and investing in the biotech/biopharma industry; public company experience strongly preferred
    • Established relationships and credibility with investors and analysts in the biotech/biopharma industry
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Facile with scientific and technical information and data, with an ability to synthesize and distill complex information into simple, clear messages
    • Strong relationship development and management skills that are demonstrated across executives, scientists, clinicians and the finance/investment community
    • Proven strong performer in a fast-paced, data-driven and dynamic work environment
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and collaborate within cross-functional teams
